1. As a part of the regulation, Candidates admitted in the second year B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Course Under the Lateral Entry Scheme shall have to satisfy the conditions prescribed by the University concerned.

2. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION The Eligibility for Admission to Direct Second Year B.E./ B.Tech. Degree courses is given below : General : Candidates satisfying the eligibility rules as follows on the last date of submission of Application are eligible to apply. No change in claims made in application will be permitted after the last date for submission of application. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. 2.1 Nativity : Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu only will be considered for admission. However, the following categories of candidates are also eligible to apply as Tamil Nadu candidates subject to the conditions indicated : (A) Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu (i) Candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from IX std. onwards (in respect of Diploma candidates)

and candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from XI std. onwards (in respect of B.Sc. candidates) need not enclose the nativity certificate. (ii) The candidates who have passed any of the IX, X, XI, XII, Diploma and B.Sc. Examinations from

the Institutions situated outside Tamil Nadu, should enclose a copy of the Nativity Certificate (vide Certificate No. VI) with the application for considering them as candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu. Applications without proper Nativity Certificate will be rejected. (B) Candidates belonging to Other State (eligible for Open Competition only) (i) Other State candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from IX onwards (in respect of

Diploma candidates) and Other State candidates with schooling in Tamil Nadu from XI onwards in respect of B.Sc. Degree candidates need not enclose the Nativity Certificate. (ii) Children of Central Government Employees otherwise not domicile of Tamil Nadu may also apply for admission, irrespective of their native, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past Five Years at the time of submission of application which should be supported by enclosing a certificate from the employer of the Parent or Guardian, to that effect. (iii) Sons and daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers otherwise not native of Tamil

Nadu are eligible. (iv) Children of employees in Public Sector or Government recognized Institutions who at the time of

submission of application for admission employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past Five Years may also apply irrespective of their domicile, provided a certificate from the employer is enclosed along with the application that the person is a Permanent Employee of the Firm or Institution concerned with evidence like Income Tax return, PF Slip, etc. and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past Five Years. 2

(v) Applications without proper Employee Certificate for the categories (ii), (iii) and (iv) mentioned above will not be considered. (C) Foreign Nationals are not eligible, except Srilankan Tamil Refugee candidates qualified Diploma under State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or qualified B.Sc. from a recognized University in Tamil Nadu will be considered under open competition as per G.O. (Ms) No. 143, Higher Education (J2) Department, dated : 14-6-2011 and G.O. (Ms) No. 159, Higher Education (J2) Department, dated : 4-7-2011. They have to enclose the following : (i) Identification from Head Quarters Tahsildar. (ii) Those who have not registered in the refugee camp, they should submit passport and visa. 2.2 Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility

Diploma Candidates A pass with prescribed minimum eligibility marks in any one of the Diploma in appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu / equivalent prescribed for the Degree Courses (Refer List of Eligible Degree courses for various Diploma courses). B.Sc. Candidates A pass with prescribed minimum eligibility marks in any recognized Bachelors Degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration with 10 + 2 + 3 years pattern and studied Core Mathematics as one of the subjects at Degree level. 2.3 Minimum Eligibility Marks Both Diploma and B.Sc. qualified candidates have to obtain the following minimum eligibility marks for admission to Lateral Entry prescribed in G.O. (Ms) No. 263, Higher Education (J2) Department, dated : 30-6-2008 and as per directions issued in Government letter No. 5464 / J1 / 2011-1, Higher Education Department, dated : 4-7-2011.

Sandwich Diploma : For the purpose of calculation of marks in respect of Sandwich Diploma passed candidates marks secured in the last two semesters of the course will be considered. If the industrial training intervenes in any one of the last two semesters then the marks of the previous semester in which there is no Industrial Training will be considered for the purpose of calculating the marks. Part Time Diploma : For the purpose of calculation of marks in respect of Part Time Diploma passed candidates, including private study, marks secured in the last three semesters examinations will be considered. Note : When the candidates produce grade certificate, they have to produce the actual marks also

otherwise only the minimum marks applicable to the grades in the subjects will be taken into account. 3

* As per Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No. 134, Dt. 29-5-2009 and G.O. (Ms.) No. 50 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (TD2) Department Dt. 29-4-2009. Tamil Nadu Native candidates alone will be considered for communal reservations. The list of communities eligible to compete against the reser ved quota is appended (Annexure I on Page No. 1 7). 3.2 Candidates seeking admission against ST / SC / SCA / MBC & DNC / BC / BCM (BC Muslim) quota should obtain the certificates of social status issued by the competent authority in the prescribed Permanent Community Cards in Tamil Nadu and enclose an attested xerox copy of the same along with the application. (a) The applicants from Tamil Nadu State should have a valid permanent community certificate in the card format issued by the competent authority (for ST / SC / SCA / MBC & DNC and BC) in the format prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu in G.O. Ms. No. 781 Revenue Department Dated : 02-05-1988. This is applicable for BCM (BC Muslim) also. In the case of ST candidates, the community certificate should have been issued by the Revenue Divisional Officer / P.A. (General) to the Collector of Chennai / Sub-Collector of the District concerned (except Chennai) vide Govt. Lr. No. 320161 / ADWII / 89-2, Dt : 27-12-1989 and Lr. No. 21424 / ADWII / 94-4, dt: 15-11-1994 from the Secretary to Government, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Chennai 600 009. The Permanent Community Certificate Card issued to ST candidates by Tahsildars upto 11-11-1989 is valid. (b) Community Certificate obtained from other states will not be considered for communal reservation. (c) For communities linked with Districts (See Annexure I) the candidates should obtain their community certificates in the respective districts except the communities mentioned in the G.O. (St.) No. 95 Backward, Most Backward and Minorities Welfare Department, Dated : 28-10-2009 and G.O. (St.) No. 115 BC, MBC & Minorities Welfare Department dated : 27-11-2009. Community Certificate obtained from other than the respective district will not be considered. (d) If a candidate belongs to any one of Code No. 1 to 6 in Item No. 12 in the application he / she should furnish an attested photo copy of Permanent Community Card Certificate. Candidates who have not furnished an attested photo copy of the Permanent Community Card Certificate at the time of submission of the application will be treated as belonging to General Category (OC). The candidate is further informed that in the event of such a decision, the eligibility conditions and rules prescribed for General Category will be applicable for such candidates and if such candidates do not satisfy the rules of General Category (OC), their applications are liable to be rejected. No correspondence in this connection will be entertained. (e) ST / SC / SCA / MBC & DNC / BC / BCM (BC Muslim) candidates are eligible for selection under Open Competition in addition to the reservations made for them. (f) The Community recorded in the Certificate of Tamil Nadu native candidate should figure in the list of communities approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu (Annexure I) on pages (1 7). 4

4. SPECIAL RESERVATION 4.1 Special Categories

Since the Special Reservation Applications are processed by separate committees, candidates are instructed to enclose separate Special Reservation Form along with the main Application. Differently Abled Persons, in addition to the above have to enclose an additional self addressed envelope for sending the Differently Abled Persons Counselling Call Letter. If appropriate certificates or supporting documents for special reservation claim are not enclosed with the Special Reservation Form, their claim under such categories will not be considered. In addition they should also enclose a copy of the Jail Extracts or in its absence, Co-prisoners Certificate or certificate from Ex-Chief Minister or Ex-Minister or Ex-member of Legislature or Ex-member of Parliament as evidence that the candidates Parent of the candidate is a Freedom Fighter suffered imprisonment for a period not less than one month subject to verification wherever it is found necessary. (iii) Candidates claiming admission against the reservation of seats for Children of Ex-servicemen [Item No. 4 Code No. 14] should enclose the certificate in the Format appended to the application form (Certificate No. V) from an officer of the Department of Ex-servicemens Welfare of Tamilnadu not below the rank of Assistant Director of Ex-servicemens Welfare of the district of which the dependent is a native. Candidates called for counselling should produce ID cards of their parents. (iv) Candidates seeking selection against the seats under the Special Reservations [Item No. 4 Code No. 11 to 14] should also satisfy the eligibility rules mentioned in Item No. 2 of the Information and Instructions to Candidates. Eligibility Criteria for Various Disabilities (as per G.O. Ms. No. 98, Higher Education (J2) Department, Dated 23-3-2005)

Norms for Orthopedic Disability Candidates with permanent physical impairment 40% and above are considered as differently abled. Hence candidates with orthopedic disability of the following types are elgible for claiming Engineering admission against Differently Abled Persons Category (Certificate No. I). (i) Independent in ambulance with or without calipers but without walking aids (ii) Good Standing Balance without calipers but without any support (iii) Hand Function with normal limit without any aid (iv) Good control over bladder and bowel (v) Disease must be non progressive Norms for Hearing Disability Candidates with hearing ability of 40db and above only in the better ear with speech discriminations score of 50% and above are considered differently abled and hence eligible for claiming Engineering admission against Differently Abled Persons Category (Certificate No. II). Norms for Vision Impairment Candidates with low vision of 40% and above are considered as differently abled, and hence eligible for claiming Engineering admission against Differently Abled Persons Category (Certificate No. III). Low Vision : Persons with low vision means a person with impairment of vision of less than 6 / 18 to 6 / 60 with best correction in the better eye or impairment of field in any one of the following categories : (a) Reduction of fields less than 50 degrees (b) Heminaopia with macular involvement (c) Attitudinal defect involving lower fields Categories of Visual disability all with correction.

5. MODE OF SELECTION 5.1 Admission to General Category (i) The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the Final Year of the qualifying examinations and reduced to 100. (ii) A merit list will be prepared separately for Diploma and B.Sc. candidates based on the total marks of 100. (iii) In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the merit list, the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below: 1. Percentage of marks in the Final Semester examinations. 2. Percentage of marks in the Pre-Final Semester examinations. 3. Date of Birth. (Preference will be given to elder Candidate). 5.2 Admission to Special Reservation Categories (i) Candidates who are applying for the special reservation categories of seats should satisfy the rules stipulated for admission. Allocation of these Special Reservation seats will be followed as per horizontal reservation. (ii) Selection for all Special Reservation categories except Eminent Sports Persons will be based on their ranking as given in 5.1(i), (ii). (iii) Selection under Eminent Sports Persons quota will be based on the total marks obtained for achievements in Sports as per Annexure II. (iv) If enough candidates are not available under any of the special reservation, the vacancies will be reverted to the general quota in the respective communities. 6

6. COUNSELLING OF CANDIDATES 6.1 Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservations, allotment of the branch / college chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for colleges and branches that are available at the time of counselling. 6.2 Tuition Fee Waiver for First Generation Graduates (i) As per guidelines issued in G.O. (St.) No. 85, Higher Education (J2) Department, Dated : 16-4-2010 and G.O. (St.) No. 142, Higher Education (J2) Department, Dated : 9-6-2010, the Government have ordered to grant Tuition fee concession to the candidates who are attending counselling and joined in professional courses in Government, Government Aided, Self Financing and Anna University Colleges, where there is no graduate in the family and the candidate applying for admission is the first beneficiary in the family under this scheme. They have to submit the following : (ii) Certificate (Certificate No. VII) obtained from Head Quarters Deputy Tahsildar in the format prescribed in the G.O. which necessarily should include the applicants father, mother, fathers father, fathers mother, mothers father, mothers mother, brother and sister. (iii) The candidates have to furnish a joint declaration by himself and parent/guardian in the prescribed format. 6.3 If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he / she has already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such case only, attested photo copies of certificates from the Head of the Institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates. Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before the counselling session along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.

CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates and in Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology (ACCET), Karaikudi (Website address : www.accet.in). No change of date / time of counselling is permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non receipt of intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend the counselling have to forego the claim for admission. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he / she can authorise his / her parent on his / her behalf and the parents decision will be binding on the candidate. Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate could not attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he / she can attend on a subsequent time / date, during the counselling period. But the candidate can only opt for the seats available at that time and cannot claim any seat as per original rank. If the ranking of a candidate is changed due to re-totalling / revaluation of mark, he / she can attend counselling as per the new mark and rank, though the call letter specifies different date (as per original mark). 7. GENERAL 7.1 Applications received after the due date, not in the prescribed form, not correctly filled up or the prescribed certificates and documents are not enclosed or do not otherwise fulfil the terms of the instructions will be considered defective and liable for rejection without notice. The Secretary, Lateral Entry Admission will not be responsible for any delay in Post or otherwise in respect of receipt of application after the due date. No correspondence will be entartained in this respect. 7.2 All the columns of the OMR coding sheet must be filled without fail. 7.3 The candidates have to join the colleges to which they are allotted within the time notified in the Provisional Allotment Order failing which the seats will be deemed to have fallen vacant. No request for reconsideration of admission shall be entertained. 7.4 Detailed information regarding tuition fees, Special fees, Scholarship, Fee Concession, Hostel Facilities, Courses of Studies, Examination etc., can be had from the Principal of the College in which the candidate is joining. 7.5 The candidates are informed that the admission given in the counselling are only provisional. In accordance with rules prescribed for admission, if they are found ineligible on actual verification of original certificates by the Principal / Directorate of Technical Education, they cannot claim any right for admission or continuation of study at whatever stage of study they may be. 7.6 UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE THE COLLEGE OR BRANCH ALLOTTED WILL NOT BE CHANGED. 7

7.7 Confirmation of Admission is subject to verification of marks certificates with the certificate issuing authorities viz. respective State Boards of Technical Education and Training / Universities. If the marks certificate is found to be BOGUS : (i) Admission is liable for cancellation and he / she will forfeit the admission no matter at what stage of the course, he / she will be in at that time. (ii) He / She will be debarred from pursuing any course of study for a period of 3 years. (iii) Legal action will be taken against him / her for furnishing bogus marks. 7.8 The candidates are required to enclose only the Xerox with attested copies of the following certificates along with the filled in application. (i) All Semester Mark Sheets (All appearances) of Diploma / B.Sc. or Equivalent Examinations (Xeroxing both sides). (ii) Diploma / Degree or Provisional Certificate. (iii) Transfer Certificate. (iv) Permanent Community Certificate Card, in respect of BCM / BC / MBC & DNC / SCA /SC / ST. (v) Nativity Certificate if required. (vi) Plus Two Mark Sheet (for B.Sc. and Lateral Entry Diploma candidates). (vii) Special Reservation form with relevant documents if applicable. 8. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS Submit only one application indicating the Group Code and Group Name of admission sought for. Encircle the code numbers wherever specified for the entries applicable to you. Enter the marks in the subjects of the qualifying Diploma / B.Sc. Examination Correctly. Enclose the attested xerox copies of relevant certificates whichever asked for along with the application. Submission of certificates at a later date shall not be accepted. (v) Write your mailing address with pincode neatly in the counselling call letter envelope. (vi) First fillup the application form and then fillup the coding sheet by referring to application form item wise. (vii) Enter the details in the coding sheet carefully for all the relevant items as per the application form and other details referring to Specific Instructions to fill up the Application Form and Guidelines to fill up the Coding Sheet. The small open boxes corresponding to entries have to be carefully and completely shaded using a HB pencil. The entire data furnished depends on the shading. The shaded information is scanned using an Optical Mark Reader and any mistake and improper shading may prejudice your selection. 9. REFUND OF REGISTRATION FEE CHARGES The amount Rs. 300/- paid by the student at the time of sale of application includes Application Cost Rs. 100/- and Registration Fee Charges Rs. 200/-. Application Cost will not be refunded on any account. Registration Fee charges will be refunded to students who have bought the Application Form but have not applied for admission. ANNEXURE II SELECTION OF CANDIDATES UNDER QUOTA FOR EMINENT SPORTS PERSONS 1. The purpose of this quota is to recognize and give weightage to the sports eminence of the candidates and hence marks for sports achievements alone will be considered in ranking the candidates. The candidates are expected to continue good performance in sports, even after selection. The highest achievement of the candidate in only one annual tournament in the sports disciplines in a year will be considered for awarding marks. For Tennis, the achievements of top three players by his/her position in the ranking list published by AITA / TNTA based on the ranking rules and the final rankings of previous four years, will be awarded marks for achievements & participation (necessary forms from the associations are to be enclosed). For Cricket, the annual official championship tournaments conducted within the country under the auspices of TNCA / BCCI at District / State / National Level alone will be taken into consideration for that year. The participation / achievements of candidates with nativity in Tamil Nadu who represented Tamil Nadu alone are eligible for marks under National Category. Only Tamil Nadu candidates are eligible to apply for admission under Sports Quota and only the candidates who have studied KVS / CBSE schools within Tamil Nadu will be eligible for marks. A Common Committee for Engineering constituted for this purpose will rank the candidates based on the marks assigned to the certificates enclosed along with the application. All the achievement certificates are to be supported necessarily by the relevant participation certificates and appropriate Forms. No further enclosures or certificates under any circumstances will be entertained after the last date for submission of completed application. Required number of candidates will be called to appear for an interview before the Common Committee for Engineering verification of the Originals, followed by counselling after ranking. If any candidate fails to produce the requisite Original Certificates / Forms, his / her place will be allotted to the candidate next in rank and so on. The consequential vacancy at the end of the rank list will be filled up from among the additional candidates according to their ranks. Selected candidates will be counselled and allotment of branches and colleges earmarked for this quota will be based on the ranking before the start of the main Counselling. A candidate can avail seat under sports quota only once for Engineering.
