NEGATIVE IMPACT
Perhaps the most powerful image of such potential harm from violent gaming comes from the school shootings in Columbine. Investigations of the killing showed that one of the killers named his shotgun after a character in the game Doom. It is suggested that these shooters became desensitized to killing by playing these games day after day. In response to such things, the parents of the children who were killed at Columbine sued computer game makers for their deadly products (Ward).

CASE STUDY
POSITIVE IMPACT
Despite all of the negativity that surrounds gaming, video games do have their educational advantages. King's Quest VII: adventure game If used in the proper setting and under the right supervision, gaming allows students to experience problems instead of just hearing it (Seay). Hands-on education is an effective way to learn, and taking part in the discovery and solution of problems can teach children good methodology in approaching other problems. In addition, learning is extremely effective when students are interested in the topic, and games provide a perfect opportunity to shape a child's mind. Simulations and discovery are very important aspects of education today. In fact, even games that seem to be pure violence teach strategy and decision-making skills (Bainbridge).
