It is the sum total of water,air and land and the inter relationship that exist among them and with human beings,other living organisms ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT Environment Management covers such general areas as environment and enterprise objectives,scope and structure of the environment,interaction of nature,society and the enterprise,environmental impact assessment,environment management standards etc. VARIOUS ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
ECONOMIC ASPECTS ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT It includes the losses caused by the health of the environment in the economic terms.It includes: ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS POLLUTION QUOTAS TAX AND TARIFFS ON POLLUTION PROPERTY RIGHTS ECONOMIC POLICIES ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION Industries, agriculture, mining, developmental projects etc. are the pillars of the modern development and these, either directly or indirectly cause most of the problems in the environment.To avoid this some regulations are made though fines and tax. POLLUTION QUOTAS
Pollution can be reduced by fixing pollution quotas in the form of tradable emission permits. The polluter company tries to reduce pollution load on its own if it has to pay more than the actual expenses for pollution reduction.
TAX AND TARIFFS A pollution tax that helps in the reduction of pollution to the socially optimal level would be set at such a level that pollution occurs only if the benefit to society exceeds the cost. Some people suggest shifting the tax on sales tax and income tax to the tax on pollution. It is popularly known as the Green Tax Shift.
PROPERTY RIGHTS The property rights may be assigned to them who suffer from pollution. According to this if people living near a factory had a right to clean air and water, then the factory could pay to the affected people. On contrary, if the factory had the right to pollute, though it can never be accepted), the people could pay the factory for reducing pollution. ECONOMIC POLICIES In this aspects resources are treated as natural capital and are accounted and assessed in the economic context.this type of accounting is called green accounting.
It also include the policies that should encourage business organisations to take care of the environment along with its own functions. PROMOTION OF TRADITIONAL VALUES & OCCUPATIONS The government will provides all the facilities to the organisation who promotes our traditional ecofriendly activites in production areas and agricultural areas with the aim to protect the environment.
TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT Relate to the development and adoption of environment friendly technologies Use of proper and modern machines to get maximum production Eco marks are given t the products that are environmentally safe The products of the industry should met the standards prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS)
It also includes Products should display the composition(rawmaterial) on the label pasted on the container of the products along with the dates of manufacturing and expiry. Should use recycling packing materials. It also helps to increase in the accountability for environmental impact Consumer Awareness SOCIAL ASPECTS Social Aspects of Environmental Management incorporate: Community Health, Traditional Values, Traditional Culture, Nutrition and Human Rights including Women and Child Welfare in relation to environment. The programmes of modern development have not been supporting equally to all the sections of society. The Green Revolution benefited big farmers only as the poor could not afford machines and agro-chemicals. As the result of development many of the tribel groups lost their home. Destruction of forests,mountains etc will lead to climatic changes etc SOCIAL ASPECTS INCLUDES The whole world in which we lives are not only belong to us but also for the future generations. we cannot raise the carrying capacity of the earth systems, we have our moral duty to conserve all the resources and biodiversity with all its means, traditions, cultures and religious practices. As our nature has given as all the resources for sustain life ,we have to use them wisely.
