IRMA IS DESIGNED BY Ar. A.P.KANVINDE, LEADING ARCHITECT OF HIS TIME WHO HAS DESIGNED A NUMBER INSTITUTIONAL CAMPUSES IN THE COUNTRY.
ZONING : THE CAMPUS IS BASICALLY DIVIDED INTO THREE ZONES. ZONE-1 CONSISTS STUDENTS HOSTEL, ZONE-2 CONSISTS STAFF HOUSING AND ZONE-3 IS
BETWEEN THESE TWO ZONES WHICH CONSISTS ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES LIKE ACADEMIC, ADMIN, AUDITORIUM, EXCEUTIVE TRAINING CENTER .
DESIGN : KANVINDE HAS DESIGNED SEPARATE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS AND THEY ARE ARRANGED AND
CONNECTED IN WAYS THAT THEY ARE FUNCTIONAL FROM INSIDE AND ELEGANT FROM OUTSIDE.
THE SHAPE AND FORM OF THE BUILDING EMERGES OUT OF THE LOGICAL ARRANGEMENT OF SPACES.
ADMINISTRATION, FACULTY BLOCK, LIBRARY AND AUDITORIUM ARE CONNECTED WITH EACH OTHER BY CORRIDORS
AT DIFFERENT FLOOR.
IN ZONE-1 AND ZONE-3 BUILDINGS ARE ARRANGED IN WAYS THAT THEY CREATE PLAZAS BETWEEN THEM.
THERE ARE THREE TYPE OF STAFF HOUSING IN THE CAMPUS LINEARLY ARRANGED SINGLE UNIT DETACHED HOUSING,
ROW HOUSING AND APARTMENT TYPE HOUSING.
THERE ARE DENSE PLANTATION ON THE PERIPHERY AND ON BOTH SIDES OF ROAD IN THE CAMPUS. WHICH CREATES
BETTER MICROCLIMATE INSIDE THE CAMPUS, ALSO IT KEEPS THE TEMPERATURE LOWER THAN OUTSIDE.
HARDSCAPED AREAS ARE KEPT MINIMUM TO PREVENT HEAT ISLAND EFFECT.
CORE ACTIVITIES ARE PLACED IN BETWEEN HOSTELS AND STAFF HOUSING WHICH MAKES IT CONVENIENT FOR BOTH
STUDENTS AND STAFFS.

SHADING DEVICE: BOX TYPE PROJECTION AROUND WINDOWS OF
FIRST AND SECOND FLOOR OF BUILDING BLOCKS PROVIDE PROPER
SHADE TO THE WINDOWS AS WELL AS IT CONTRIBUTES IN THE FORM
OF THE BUILDING.
