The frozen food industry

The global market for frozen foods is projected to reach US$136.5 billion by 2015, registering a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3.7% during the period 2006-2015. The market for frozen foods is estimated at US$113.1 billion in 2010. • India is one of the largest food producers with the industry estimated at more than $200 billion, according to a Confederation of Indian Industry study that projected it to grow to $310 billion by 2015. But India accounts for less than 1.5% of international food trade. The ministry of food processing estimates the size of the industry at Rs 1,44,000 crore. But exports of processed food stood at just Rs 8,975 crore in 2007-08. It is estimated to be growing at around 15% over the past two-three years. My favourite was the plain paratha which was light and flaky just like it should be.
