What will happen ta a can of paint
spray containing only the propellant at a
pressure of 750 torr at 30° C if it is thrown
into a heap of garbge burning at 165° C ?
Given:
𝑃1 = 750 torr 𝑇1 = 30 ° C +273.15 K
𝑃2 = ? 𝑇1 = 165 ° C +273.15 K
Solution:

AVOGRADRO’S
LAW
Volume-Mole Relationship
WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
An Italian chemist Amedeo Avogadro found
out in his experiment the relationship between
the volume abd number of moles of gas. He
proposed the use of counting unit called mole
to represent the amount of gas or number of
particles contained in a substance.
The law states that equal volumes of gases at
the same temperature and pressure contain
equal number of molecules.
EXPRESSED IN A MATHEMATICAL
EQUATION:
𝑉1 𝑉2
=
𝑛1 𝑛2
A 2.7 mole of gas has a volume of 2.9 L
at certain temperature and pressure. Find
the new volume of this gas if 5 moles are
added to the original volume under the
same conditions.
Given:
𝑉1 = 2.9 L 𝑛1 = 2.7 moles
𝑉2 = ? 𝑛1 = 2.7 moles + 5 moles
Solution:
𝑉1 𝑛2
𝑉2 =
𝑛1
2.9 𝐿 7.7 𝑚𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑠
=
2.7 𝑚𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑠
𝑽𝟐 = 8.27 L
