Antecedents
Pronouns are words
used in
place of
nouns.
Antecedents are the
word(s) a
pronoun
stands for.
Example without pronouns
Chrissy made Chrissy’s
own spaghetti sauce so
Chrissy could have the
sauce on Chrissy’s
spaghetti.
Example with pronouns
Chrissy made her
own spaghetti sauce
so she could have it
on her spaghetti.
Understand
The second sentence

because some nouns
were replaced with
pronouns.
Pronouns take their
meaning
from the
words they
replace.
