LOCATION:

• This island is in the caribean


sea, 13km of the coast of
Cancun.
• It is an island of mexico.
• It is located between cuba
and mexico.
• This island is 7 kilometers
long and 650 meters wide
• The population of this island
is 12.642 of habitants .
WHEATHER:

• The temperature is
tropical because is
above 30ºCelsius,
rain sometimes and
have electric
storms but
normally is sunny.
FESTIVALS: WHALE SHARK
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A WHALE SHARK?

  The Whale Shark Festival is a (whole island)


community event with residents, businesses
and tourists getting involved. It takes place
from 20 to22 of July.
Some of the most important work is the
Environmental Education of the children of Isla
Mujeres and visiting families, during the festival
people of the island inform and educate the
visitors and the local population on the need to
preserve and protect the areas marine
ecosystem.

Tortugranja:

There you can Meet young turtles


preparing to embark on their oceanic
journey at Tortugranja. The center
dedicates itself to providing a protective
environment for the majestic creatures,
who will eventually mature and be
released safely into the sea. Learn about
the life cycle of these fascinating creatures
on a short guided tour of the centre, and
observe them at close quarters in pools.
You’ll see various species, at various stages
in their life, and you'll also have the
opportunity to buy food to feed them by
hand, an experience children will love.

ISLA CONTOY
Have you ever gone to and an inhabited island?
Well now its the time!
From Isla Mujeres it’s possible to take a boat excursion to
this tiny an inhabited island.
Isla Contoy is under 9 kms (4 miles) long and only 20 meters wide at its widest point.
It has been a federally protected area since 1961, and in 1998 was declared a National Park.
It is renowned for its flora and fauna, particularly its bird species.
It happens to be a great place to swim with gentle whale sharks as they migrate past the area.
