INTRODUCTION
• A projector is an apparatus for presenting an enlarged image on a
screen from a transparency such as a photographic slide or a film.
• Picture resolution : 800 x 600 pixels.
• Mostly projectors weigh four to six pounds.
• Varied brightness and contrast levels-brightness varies from 1300
lumens to 1500 lumens.
• Brightness of 1400 lumens proves to be a good choice for small
to medium-sized, well-lit rooms.
• Advanced in terms of clarity of picture and quality of the pixels.
• The abundance of LCD projectors, DLP projectors and video
projectors has enabled the common man to enjoy the experience
of a big theater hall in his living room.

TYPES OF PROJECTOR
1. DLP Projector
2. LCD Projector
3. CRT Projector
DLP PROJECTOR
• DLP or Digital Light Processing is a bit more complex.
• DLP technology is based on an optical semiconductor called a
DMD chip (Digital Micro mirror Device), which was invented in
1987 by Texas Instruments.
• Preferable for home cinema and portability.
Principle behind its working:-
The way it works is that a DMD chip is made up of millions of
tiny-tiny mirrors, that can rotate at a 10 degrees angle (12
degrees on better models). These mirrors are literally capable of
switching on and off thousands of times per second and are used
to direct light towards and away from a dedicated pixel space.
DLP Projector

4 Segment color wheels - No Rainbow effect

6 Segment color wheels - Spin faster, Rainbow effect
7 Segment color wheels - greater contrast rations (3000:1+)
Upcoming Technology
xHD3 technology - It will take the single chip
technology to even greater heights by adding a new rear
coating to the mirrors and eliminating more of the latent
brightness when in the off position.
Sequential Color Recapture (SCR) - DLP systems will
replace the traditional color wheel with essentially, a
Spiral of "Archimedes" RGB color pattern.
This new technology has been mathematically projected
to rival the current quality of 3-modulator DLP Cinema
systems.
LCD Projector
LCD Projector or Liquid Crystal Display is by far the cheaper method of
getting great home cinema. I have a Panasonic PTAE500 myself which is
great and highly recommended.
Principle Behind its working:-
Three separate LCD glass panels, one for red, green, and blue components
of the image signal being transferred to the projector. As the light passes
through the LCD panels, individual pixels can be opened to allow light to
pass or closed to block the light. This activity modulates the light and
produces the image that is projected onto the screen.
LCD Projector
Working:-

FEATURES:-
• More ‘light efficient’ than DLP
• Produce more saturated colors
• Produce sharper image
• Low fill factor- Chicken Wire Effect
• Preferable where color reproduction is critical
CRT Projector
CRT- Cathode Ray Tube
• This is the largest and most experienced player.
Principle behind its working:-
• CRT utilizes three tubes, sometimes called "guns." The three
colors combine or converge to make your image. CRTs do not
have a fixed number of pixels, making them versatile machines
capable of clear images from higher or lower resolution sources.
• Generally used in fixed installations because of their size.
• CRTs are typically not as bright as the other technologies, but
the refined picture quality of a properly calibrated CRT is tough
to beat.
Its worth noting that to replace the Guns, it costs quite a bit of
money (on average £500 per gun)
FEATURES
 Zoom lens: A zoom lens gives you the ability to adjust the projected
image size without physically moving the projector.
 Keystone Correction: In addition to the zoom lens feature, mobile
users should consider the benefits of keystone correction.
 Contrast: Contrast is the ratio between the brightest and darkest
areas of the image. A projector's contrast rating represents a
theoretical maximum, obtained under ideal conditions, and may not
reflect what you actually see on the screen
 Video Signal Standards: Most business projectors accept
composite video, S-video, and computer/RGB signals as three types
of signal transmission.
 Multiple VGA Ports: If you want to connect multiple computers or
video sources to the projector simultaneously, you will need
multiple input jacks to accommodate this.
Description
Projector is designed to keep track of tasks and calculate a
project's cost. Projector provides all the tools you need for
professional project management. Whether your job calls for
managing large construction projects, complex media
activities or detailed time schedules, Projector is the tool you
need. It is easy to use and will help you organize, administer
and monitor your tasks allowing you more time to manage
your projects and less time to learn how to use project
management software.
WHO SHOULD USE A
PROJECTOR
A projector can be used either for very large screen home theater, or as a
less expensive substitute for a big-screen TV
Of course, if you are going for the big multi-channel surround sound
system and the full "theater" audio experience, it is best to have a very big
video image to match it.
If you plan to watch a lot of television and news, though you can do this on
a projector, most people find that flatscreens or even tube televisions are
the better answer.
And of course for giving seminars in classroom , in offices or in any
research institutes we can use LCD projector or other projectors
NEED OF PROJECTOR
We need to purchase a Projector that can display 1920 X 1200 widescreen
resolution from a laptop. This will be used for AutoCAD and other
business presentations. Price is a factor, but resolution/brightness/contrast
is more important.

We are just after some advise and options: What is the best projector (or
method) to project data from a laptop running 1920 X 1200.
ADVANTAGES
 Long service life, CRT tubes maintain good
brightness to 10,000 hours.
 High end CRT projectors can precisely display
images up to 1920 x 1200 with accurate color
reproduction. A few projectors can scan at even
higher resolutions up to 3200 x 2560.
 Superior black level compared to LCD and DLP
based projectors.
 CRT projectors do not show a Rainbow effect
seen with single chip DLP projectors .
DISADVANTAGES
 CRT projectors are both considerably larger and heavier than comparable
LCD and DLP projectors.
 CRT projectors require far more time to set up and adjust than LCD and
DLP based projectors.
 Absolute ANSI brightness achievable with CRT projectors is lower than
with comparable LCD and DLP projectors.
 Low-end or poorly tuned CRT projectors may suffer from color
divergence.
CONCLUSION
 If you want the best money can buy, a three chip DLP projection is the best
you can get.
 The slightly cheaper method would be the Panasonic LCD projector ,i have
already mentioned. There are a vast number of projectors out there. Be
sure to remember the four key points,i made at the top of this post when
looking for your projector.
