    • We enjoy listening to
    good music. Life would
    be much different if we
    cannot hear what
    people are saying. In
    order to appreciate our
    sense of hearing, let us
    find out how we are
    able to hear.

    PARTS OF THE EAR


    .The outer ear or PINNA
    catches the sound . The

    Functions . In the middle ear is a long
    of the ear cavity called the EAR CANAL .
    The ear canal is lined

    is the EARDRUM.It is where
    the middle ear starts.This is
    a tiny membrane that
    vibrates when sound
    strikes it and causes the
    ossicles to vibrate,too.
    • The eustachian tube
    connects the middle ear to
    the throat. It ensures that
    LISTEN !!!! air pressure in the middle
    ear is the same as that on
    the outside.
    • The COCHLEA is shaped
    like a snail . It contains
    the sensory or
    AUDITORY NERVES
    which carry the
    messages to the
    brain.The brain
    interprets the sound you
    hear and tells the
    specific body parts to
    respond.
    CARING FOR OUR EARS
    1. Regularly clean your ears using cotton
    buds.
    2. Do not place small objects inside your ears.
    3. Always take extra care while swimming so
    that the water will not get inside your ears.
    4. Never strike your or someone else’s ears.
    5. See an ear doctor for a checkup if you feel
    something painful in your ears.
