• The current population - approximately 5.05 million.
• It is a Democratic Republic Country.

• The dark blue represents the sky, idealism,


opportunities and perseverance. The white stripes
represent peace, wisdom, and happiness. The red
stands for the blood spilled by martyrs defending
the country, as well as the warmth and generosity
of the Costa Ricans.

WORLD’S BIODIVERSITY
• The country’s territory takes up only 0.03% of the
world’s land, but despite the relatively small area, it
is home to more than 5% of the total biodiversity in
the world.

SAME TIME 365 DAYS A YEAR

• Due to the close proximity to the equator, the


sunrise and sunset are to be expected at the same
time every day.
3.NICOYA IS ONE OF THE TOP 5 BLUE
ZONES IN THE WORLD
• Nicoya , on Costa Rica’s western coast , is a well
known Blue Zone, meaning that its inhabitants
commonly live active lives past the age of 100.
• A Blue Zone is a special zone on Earth, where
lifespan is noticeably longer than the rest of the
world.

• Another interesting fact about Costa Rica and its


citizens. While foreigners often refer to them as Costa
Ricans, they themselves instead say Ticos for males
and Ticas for females.

• Pura Vida means pure life if you translate it literally,


but it’s more than that, it’s a lifestyle. Pura Vida is
the national slogan, and experts think that this
mentality is one of the reasons that Costa Ricans
often are considered one of the happiest people in
the world.

• In most countries around the world, the woman
who gets married often takes the name of her
husband. But, not in Costa Rica. The Ticas maintain
their maiden name for life.

• While Americans are the major nationality of tourists


coming here, there’s also an increasing amount of
other international tourists who discover the beauty
of Costa Rica.
• Nearly 3 million tourists arrive annually, which has
made tourism as one of the leading sources of
income for locals.
8. NO STANDING ARMY IN COSTA RICA

• Only a few countries in the world is completely


without a standing army. Costa Ricans can proud
themselves for being a friendly and democratic
nation.
9.COSTA RICAN CURRENCY IS AS
COLORFUL AS ITS TERRAIN.

• Every denomination of Costa Rican cash features a


different landscape and animal chosen from Costa
Rica’s vast biodiversity, including the white-tailed
deer, capuchin monkey, sloth, and blue morpho
butterfly, all of which can be easily sighted here.
