    • Incorporated on 15 November1958 as a Government
    of India fully owned public enterprise with the name
    NMDC Pvt Ltd.
    • During the year 1959-60 the name of the company
    was changed from NMDC Pvt Ltd to NMDC Ltd.
    • NMDC’s 72.43% stakes is under the administrative
    control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
    • It is India's largest iron ore producer and exporter
    producing more than 35 million tons of iron ore from
    3 fully mechanized mines in chhattisgarh & Karnataka
    • Headquarter – Hyderabad.
    • Shri N. Baijendra Kumar, IAS is CMD of the company.
    • In 1966 Company acquired the Panna Diamond
    Project.
    • 1968 they commenced production of iron ore from
    Bailadila Deposit No-14.
    • 1989 the company incorporated as J&k Mineral
    Development Corporation Ltd as a joint Venture with
    J&K Mineral ltd.
    • In 1998 the company was conferred with the Mini
    Ratna status.
    • In 2008 the Company has been categorized as
    "NAVRATNA" Public Sector Enterprise by the
    Department of Public Enterprises.
    • In the year 2008 the company was declared as
    the ‘Centre of Excellence’ by the Expert Group of
    United Nations Industrial Development

    SCOPE Corporate Excellence Awards 2019 at New Delhi.
    2. 2018 - NMDC Limited has bagged the prestigious S&P
    Global PLATTS Global Metals Award 2018 in corporate
    social responsibility category held on 17.05.2018 at
    London.
    3. For years 2014, 2015,2016, NMDC is awarded by Most
    Efficient Navranta Award.
    4. 2016 - NMDC’s Bailadila Iron ore mine-Bacheli Complex
    bags prestigious FIMI Golden Jubilee Award for
    Excellence.
    5. NMDC’s highly mechanized two iron ore mines i.e.
    Bailadila Deposit – 10/11A, Bailadila Iron Ore Mine,
    Bacheli Complex, Chhattisgarh and Donimalai Iron
    Ore Mine, Donimalai, Karnataka and one Diamond
    Mining Project, Panna, Madhya Pradesh have
    received 5 star rating by Indian Bureau of Mines
    (IBM), Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
    FUTURE POTENTIAL
    • NMDC is planning to undertake mining in Australia,
    Legacy Iron Ore (LYC) subsidiaries, a majority owned
    NMDC company will acquire majority stakes in
    projects in Australia.
    • Strategic management plan, 'Vision 2025' is to take
    our total iron ore production capacity from 43 MTPA
    today to 67 MTPA.
    • As we look to the future, we can see positive market
    conditions for India, and can also expect growth
    agenda to be well absorbed by the subsequent
    growth in anticipated demand.
