Some informational texts
are written by following
the “problem and
solution” structure.
These text types begin
with the presentation of
a problem between
individuals, among
groups, or an issue
going on in the world.
This is followed by
one or more possible
solutions to the
problem presented.
Being able to identify
the problem and
solution will help you

There has been a surge in
teen pregnancies these days.
Teen pregnancies make it very
difficult for young mothers to
pursue their dreams and meet
the demands of an infant.
Fortunately, most teen
pregnancies can be prevented
using birth control; however, even
birth control is not 100% effective.
The most effective to prevent teen
pregnancies is abstinence, which
is 100% effective.

Dengue is a severe, flu-like illness that
affects infants, young children and adults, but
seldom causes death. Dengue should be
suspected when a high fever is accompanied by
2 of the following symptoms: severe headache,
pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains,
nausea, vomiting, swollen glands or rashes.
Symptoms usually last for 2 to 7 days after an
incubation period of 4 to 10 days after the bite
from an infected mosquito.
There is no specific treatment for dengue fever.
At present, the main method to control or prevent
the transmission of dengue virus is to combat vector
mosquitoes through: preventing mosquitoes from
accessing egg-laying habitats; disposing of solid
waste properly; covering, emptying and cleaning of
domestic water storage containers on a weekly
basis; and using of personal household protection
measures such as window screens, long-sleeved
clothes and repellents.
