Religion for and Against Globalization

 Religion see globalization less as an obstacle and more as


an opportunity to expand their reach all over the world.
 Religion is no “regressive force” that stops / slows down
globalization; it is a proactive force that gives
communities a new and powerful basis of identity.
 Both religion and globalization find ways to benefit and
take advantage.
Conclusion
 Globalization has something to do with modernization, while
religion is an anathema of it.
 Secularization theory is outdated.
 Religion seems is somehow outside looking at globalization
as problem or potential
 Religion cannot be empirically proven is therefore anathema
to modernization
 Calvinism- believe that God already decided who would and
not would save.
 Religions leaders have used religion to wield influence in the
political arena
