TREES
Elements/ Factors to be Observed in
Planting Tress
and Fruit –bearing Trees
1.Choosethe
best place
for
planting.
2. Choose
the seeds
that best
suit the
season and
the soil.
3.Put
sufficient
fertilizers
in the soil.
4. Take care
of the soil
and the
plants
regularly.
METHODS OF PLANTING
1. Direct Planting
-the seeds of the plants directly
planted in the soil.
2. Indirect Planting
-the plants need to be
transferred to its
permanent place. This is
commonly done with trees.
Steps in Proper Transferring of
Plants
1. Place the seedling away from direct
sunlight.
2 Dig the area where you want to plant them.
3. Remove the plant from the plastic bag.
4.Slowly and carefully place the seedlings in
the hole.
5. Cover it with soil.
6. Water the new plant early in the next
morning.
7. Remember: Plant your seedlings in the
afternoon when sunlight is no longer hot to
avoid withering.
Process of Preparing
Seedlings
Thinning- pull
Before Transplanting
out some crowded
seedlings so that
the remaining
plants will have
more room.
Pricking-
transferring
seedlings from
one seed box to
another to
provide more
space for proper
development.
Hardening-is
the process of
exposing
transplants
(seedlings)
gradually to
outdoor
conditions
Methods of Transferring Plants
Dibbling Method- the
shovel is pushed
deep into the soil
under the roots then
gently pushed upward
Cone-Shape
Method-a
deeper and
wider cone-
shaped hole.
Stit Method
Side of the Hole Method
Dig a hole that
tis deep but
narrow.
Whole Digging Method
Dig a hole
that is
deeper and
wider using
spade and
pick axe.
3 Systematic Process of Caring for the
Seedling
1.Watering- seedlings needs water to keep
tem healthy.
2.Cultivation- tilling or loosening the soil
around the seedlings.
3.Applying fertilizer- fertilizer contain
the nutrients that plants and tees needs to
grow.
Fertilizer- enriching materials used on
land to increase its productivity.
Two Types of Fertilizer
1. Organic Fertilizer- decomposed organic
matter including animal manures, food
washings, plant, residues, and other organic
wastes.
Composting- is a process of decomposing
organic matters such as weeds. Manure,
grasses, leaves, vines, rice hulls, and corn
stalks until they are ready to be used as
fertilizer.
Inorganic Fertilizer- commercial
fertilizer
