PENDAHULUAN
ENGLISH AS AN INTERNATIONAL LAGUAGE IS VERY
IMPORTANT TO LEARN,ENGLISH IS TAUGHT FROM
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY LEVEL.IN
TEACHING ENGLISH,THERE FOUR MICRO
ABILITIES:LISTENING,SPEAKING,WRITING AND
READING.THE FOLLOWING DISCUSSION IN THIS
RESEARCH WE FOCUS ON SPEAKING.ACCORDING
TO HORNBY(1995:318)SPEAKING IS MAKING USE OF
WORDS AN ORDINARY VOICE,UTTERING
WORDS,KNOWING AND BEING ABLE TO USE
LAGUAGE;EXPERISSION ONE IN WORDS;MAKING A
SPEECH.IN SHORT,SPEAKING ABILITY IS ABILITY TO
PERFORM THE LINGUISTICS KNOWLEDGE IN THE
ACTUAL COMMUNICATION.
SUBJECT RESEARCH :
ALL THE STUDENTS OF ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA PERGURUAN TINNGI ISLAM MAKASSAR.
METHOD OF RESEACH :
THIS RESEARCH EMPLOYED AN EXPERIMENTAL METHOD THAT APPLIES ONE-GROUP PRETEST-POSSTEST DESIGN.THIS DESIGN INVOLVED ONE GROUP THAT
APPLIES PRETEST AND POSTTEST,WHERE THE PRETEST WAS ADMINISTERED BEFORE GIVING TREATMENT BY USING DEBATE TECNIQUE AND POSTTEST WAS
ADMINISTERED AFTER GIVING TREATMENT.THE GRUP RECEIVED TREATMENT BY USING DEBATE AND MY OPINION THIS METHOD IS GOOD TO SEE THE SKILL
OF STUDENTS IN SPEAKING.IN CONDUCTING DATA.THE RESEARCHER USED THE SPEAKING TEST AND RECORDING WITH INTERVIEWED THE STUDENTS AS
THE TEST-TAKER ABOUT AN ISSUES THAT HAD BEN DEBATED.
RESULT :
1)THE STUDENTS SPEAKING ABILITY ON ACCURACY
THE STUDENTS’ SCORE OF PRE-TEST ARE OBSERVED BASED OF COMPONENTS OF SPEAKING SHOWS THAT IN PRETEST,THERE ARE 8 STUDENTS OR 40% CATEGORIZED AS POOR, 5 STUDENTS OR 25% CATEGORIED AS FAIRLY, 7 STUDENTS OR 3.35 % CATEGORIZED AS VERY POOR,AND
NONE OF THEM CATEGORIZED AS GOOD,
AND STDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY IN POST-TEST ACCURACY ,THERE IS 1 STUDENTS AS POOR OR 5%,16 STUDENTS OR 80% CATAGORIED AS FAIRLY, 3 STUDENTS OR 15% CATEGORIZED AS GOOD AND NONE OF THEM CLASSFIED INTO VERY GOOD MEANS THERE IS A CHANGE.
2)THE STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN FLUENCY
SHOWS THAT PRETEST ,THERE ARE 8 STUDENTS OR 40% CATEGORIZED AS POOR,6 STUDENTS OR 30 % CLASSIFIED INTO VERY POOR,6 STUDENTS OR 30% CLASSIFIED INTO FAIRLY AND NONE OF THEM GOOD.
POST-TEST SHOW THERE IS NO STUDENTS AS POOR,VERY GGOD,AND EXCELENT.10 STUDENTS CATEGORIZED AS FAIRLY,10 STUDENTS OR 50% CATEGORIZED AS GOOD.
BASED ON THE TEST THE RESEACHER CONCLUDES THAT USING DEBATE TECNIQUE IMPROVES THE STUDENTS’SPEAKING ABILITY IN ACCURACY AND FLIECY AT THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS’ SPEAKING IN SMA PEGURUAN ISLAM MAKASSAR.IT IS PROVED BY THE MEAN SCORE OF
STUDENTS ON PRO-TEST IN ACCURACY WAS 4,83 AND AFTER PROTEST WAS 6.85 BECOME FAIRLY.THE MEAN SCORE ON PRE-TEST IN FLUECY WAS 5.1 THIS CATEGORIZED AS PPOR AND AFTER POST TEST WERE 7.5 BECOMES GOOD.
