Introduction of COVID-19 Responsive Assessment Plan

APF is consisted of two major assessments
1. Large Scale Sample-Based Assessment:
a. National Assessments (Countrywide)
Phase I: Sample-based Assessment pilot at Class 5 by PEC
Phase II:
• Sample-based Assessment at Class 5 (4200 schools)
• Sample-based Assessment pilot at Class 8 and any other levels
• Addition of other classes in phased manner
b. International Assessments (Worldwide)
• International assessments like TIMSS, PIRLS and PISA and any other need based 4
assessments.

2. School Based Assessment (Summative & Formative)
A. Summative Assessment:
Phase I:
• Conventional school-based exam for all classes other than Class 5
• Centrally prepared paper-and-pencil assessment for Class 5 (SBA-PEC Item Bank)
• Keys and Rubrics provided by PEC
• Formal report card issued to parents at all class levels
Phase II:
• Centrally prepared paper-and-pencil assessments for remaining classes 5 and 8
• Contingency Plan by PEC:
• Centrally prepared paper-and-pencil assessments for remaining classes from 2-8

• Oral examination rubric for earlier years (ECE and 1)

Phase III: (Contd.)
• Standardized items (item banks) disseminated from PEC to the schools for all classes
• Schools will develop own examinations in accordance with official curricular
benchmarks/framework
Phase IV:
• Schools will develop own reliable and valid assessment and develop item banks
B. Formative Assessment:
• Development of Formative Assessment Strategy by PEC
• Formative Assessment in all elementary classes by teachers

Final Assessment Weightage
50% Homework (Formative Assessment)
• Assigned by the Teacher during School Closure / Before Final Assessment
• Evaluated by the Teacher
50% MCQs
• Assessment tool will be provided by PEC for oral assessment of Grade 1 & 2
• Item bank of 100 items per subject per grade will be provided by PEC for Grade 3
to 8
• Execution at the end of academic year (PEC will conduct training for Assessment
in the School in February-March)
Report Card
• Report Card will be issued to each student by School (on PEC’s template)
• Report Card consists of feedback on 50% Homework and 50% assessment 7

PEC will provide 100 MCQs (each MCQ will be of 02 Marks) for Grade 3 to 8
PEC will provide assessment tools for oral assessment of Grade 1 & 2
PEC will conduct training sessions for the following in February / March

3. Preparation of Report Card

• Answer: This is special final assessment due to COVID-19
Q: What is the structure of final assessment?
• Answer: Final Assessment will consist of 02 components:
i. 50% weightage of Homework
ii. 50% weightage of written paper consisting of 25 MCQs only
Q: Which curriculum will be used?
• Answer: Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) of PCTB
