1 Create an account
1. Go to www.schoology.com.
2. Hover over Sign Up in the top right corner and select Instructor from the dropdown menu.
3. Fill out each required field.
4. Click the I'm not a robot box and follow the instructions to confirm your identity.
5. Click Register.
6. Type your School name or school zip/postal code into the designated field, then click the
search icon.
7. Select your school from the results. If your school is not listed, click Request to Add Your
School at the bottom of the list.

1 Navigating Schoology
The top navigation bar is visible from anywhere on the site once
you have logged in.
On the left side of the top bar, you can navigate to the four main
areas of Schoology: Home, Courses, Groups and Resources.

2 Courses Menu
This displays courses you are personally enrolled in. From your
Courses drop-down, you can navigate to your existing courses.
Clicking My Courses on the right, allows you to create courses, view
current and archived courses, join courses and search for courses.

3 Groups Menu
This displays the groups you are enrolled in. Clicking My Groups on
the right, allows you to create groups, view current and archived
groups, join groups and search for groups.

Recent Activity — The Recent Activity
Feed is a condensed feed of posts that

relate to you, your courses, groups and 1
organizations. 3
3 Course Profile
1. Navigation Panel — The navigation
panel on the left side of your course
pages allows you to access the different
areas of your course, such as your
Materials, Gradebook and Attendance.
2. Center Column — This column shows
the page you are viewing based on the
left side navigation.
3. Reminders & Upcoming — Similarly to
the Reminders & Upcoming column on
your Home page, this area displays
grade and submission activity, along
with all your assignments, due dates,
and calendar events in chronological
order.

3 Course Profile
To create a Course:
1. Click Courses at the top of Schoology.
2. Click My Courses in the top right corner
of the drop-down menu.
3. From the Courses page, click the
Create Course button.
4. In the Create form:
Enter a Course Name; for example,
“Basic Calculus“
Rename the Section Name
Select a Subject Area.
Enter a Grade Level, or select a
grade range.
5. Click Create to finish.

To add a Member:
To add a member, use an access code.
Each course has a 13-digit Access Code (in a green box) located near the bottom
of the left menu of the course profile, as well as on the right side of the Members
page.
Distribute the Access Code to students to allow them to register for Schoology on
their own. Students with existing Schoology accounts can use the Access Code to
join your course without having to create a new account.
Students can register by going to app.schoology.com/register. See Student Sign
Up for detailed instructions.

3 Course Profile
To create a Course Material:
1. Click the Courses drop-down menu in
the top menu and select the course to
which you're adding materials.
2. Click the Add Materials button and
choose the content type. Follow the
links to learn more about how to create
and use specific types of course
materials.
• Assignments

To use Gradebook:

To take Attendance:
1. Select Attendance in the left-hand
menu of your course.
2. Click Start at the top of the column or
click into a cell within the column to
make attendance adjustments as
needed.
3. Click the icon in the center to mark the
student either Present, Absent, Late, or
Excused.
4 Group Profile
1. Navigation panel — The navigation
panel on the left side of your course
pages allows you to access the different
areas of your group, such as Updates,
Discussions and Group Resources
2. Center Column — This column shows
the page you are viewing based on the
left side navigation.
3. Upcoming — The Upcoming column
shows your group events in
chronological order. Clicking on the
Calendar icon in the Upcoming column
allows all Group members to see the
shared Group Calendar in the month
view.

Schoology.
