• 905 – 990 = General Professional Proficiency

Grammar Review
a. Adverb of Frequency
– Definite frequency: every day, twice a week, etc.
– Indefinite frequency: always, rarely, never, etc.
b. Conjunctions
- Coordinate conjunction: and, or, nor, but, etc
- Subordinate conjunctions: although, since,
because, before,etc
Prepositions=link the structures within the
sentence (in, at, on,etc)
• 1. show placement: time, direction, cause,
and location.
• 2. it can be used alone or in two-or three-
word combinations.
• 3. it is often used idiomatically or often ignore
rules.
• Example: the deadline is at Friday. (on).
Transition words= to join two or more
independent clauses or sentence.
• Consequently, then, furthermore, however,
moreover, as a result, nevertheless, for
example, meanwhile, etc.
• Example: she produses the most;
nevertheless, she will be promoted
(consequently)
Causative= made a certain action
or happen.
• 1. get, make, have.
• 2. order, cause, force, want.
• Ex. : a. He had the secretary signed for the
package (sign).
• b. We will want the invoices will be returned at once
(returned).
Conditional Sentence
• 1. if-clause (condition) and result.
• 2. to show real and unreal (contrary to fact).
• 3. statement in the present or past times.
• Ex.: a. if taxes will go up, we will need to
borrow money (go up).
b. If elephants have wings, they fly.
If elephants had wings, they could fly. (correct).
Two-Word verbs
• Have different meaning when combined.
• ex.: turn means rotate.
turn down means from a higher to a lower
position.
Ex.: if you can’t ....... On the phone, try
sending an e-mail or a fax.

Word Families
• 1. Words in English from which other words are made.
• 2. These words can be in noun, verb, adjective, and adverb
forms.
a. Noun suffixes: -ance, -ance, -action, -ment, etc
Ex.: we have profited from his employing (employment).
b. Adjective suffixes: -able, -ible, -ful, -ish, -ive, etc.
Ex.: his business is unsuccessfully (unsuccessful).
c. Adverb suffixes: -ly, -word, - wise, etc.
Ex.: the presention was given professional (professionally).
d. Verb suffixes: -en, ify, -ize,etc.
Ex.: this client will strength our credibility (strengthen).
Vocabulary Review
• word forms= identifying parts of speech (nouns, verbs,
adjectives, adverbs).
• Words with similar meaning= choosing from words that have
similar meanings (option/choice, alternative, etc).
• Word choice= choosing the correct word for the context.
• Prepositions= practicing prepositions of time and place (on
Monday, for a week, at home, etc).
• Words that look like= choosing from words that look similar.
• Conjunctions= using words that join sentences together
(both, although, so, etc).
• Phrasal verbs= cheching the meaning of common two-part
phrasal verbs (break down, call for, etc).
