Introduction:

In Architectural industry the field of Intelligent

Buildings, Intelligent Homes, and Building
Management Systems (BMS) encompasses an
enormous variety of technologies, across
commercial, industrial, institutional and domestic
buildings, including energy management systems and
building controls.

The IBMS shall comprise of two parts – Building

Automation System (BAS) and Security Management
System (SMS)
1
The function of Building Management Systems
is central to 'Intelligent Buildings' concepts;
its purpose is to control, monitor and functions
at an optimal level of efficiency in the various
services of the building.

The essence of Building Management Systems

and Intelligent Buildings is in the ‘control
technologies’,
which allow integration, automation, and
optimization of all the services and equipment that
provide services and manages the environment of
the building concerned.
2
Aim of the project:

The use of these technologies which allows the

optimization of various site and building services,
often yielding significant cost reductions and large
energy savings.

Parameters what we are going to discuss under

this topic is

• Safety systems
• Security systems
• Energy efficiency systems
3
Objective of the project:
• At present there is a huge demand of power, power
consumption, safety systems, and security systems
in our country; by implementing BMS in urban
township we can achieve effective power
distribution, proper safety and security system.

• By introducing the integrated building management

systems in a township are going to reduce theft,
property crime, information theft.

• Through the BMS can able to protect people

property and their life. Beyond that we can
increase the national economy.
4
Limitations and the scope Limits to
• Safety systems:
- Fire detection systems
- Intelligent Fire Alarm Control Panels
- Smoke Detection equipment's / devices
- Intelligent Fire Integrator
- Intelligent Fire Annunciator
- Manual pull stations
• Seismic resistance
- Evacuation procedure
5
• Traffic regulations/ speed controllers
Security systems:
• Access control systems/ township
-vehicular access control
-residential access control
-visitors access control
• Video phones
• CCTV systems (control rooms
• Intrusion alarm systems
-residential
-township (fencing)
-high level secured areas
-electrical rooms
-generator sets
-transformers
• Door controllers
• Gates and barrier controls 6
-patrol monitor
Energy efficiency:

• Street light using solar energy

-day light sensors
• Water meters/ controllers
• Electrical meters
-access control
• HVAC systems in common areas
-metering
-humidity control sensors
• Lifts and escalators 7
• Gas distribution
Case study:
• Hiranandhini palace gardens – vadakkapattu

• Prince Residenzia-Sriperumbudur

• Tidal park staff quarters – Coimbatore.

Analysis:
By using the integrated building management
system we are going to provide safe and secured
living environment also that we are going to
conserve energy using our Integrated building
management system.
