BODMAS

What is BODMAS?
What’s BODMAS
BODMAS IS THE ORDER TO EVALUATE THE
MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSIONS WHICH HAVE MORE
THAN ONE OPERATION. THIS RULE SPECIES THE
ORDER IN WHICH THIS EXPRESSION SHOULD BE
SOLVED.

BODMAS rule is also called as- Simplification Rule

01 Brackets
What are Brackets
Brackets are the kind of symbol which helps to
indicate that which part of the statement
should be solved first . The Brackets are also
called as grouping symbol.

There are 3 types of Brackets-

a) ( )- Round Brackets
b) { }- Curly Brackets
c) [ ]- Square Brackets
02 Division
You could enter a subtitle here if you need it
What is Division
Division is a method which divides the
whole into equal parts.

For Example – 45\5

Multiplication
03
What is Multiplication
Multiplication is the formula which is
also called as repeated addition. The
result of multiplication operation is
product.

For example- 6X5

Addition
04
What is Addition
Addition is the mathematical operation
which is used add a number to a number
and the result is known as sum.

For example- 5+7

05 Substraction
What is Subtraction
Subtraction is a arithmetic operation
which represents the operation of
removing number from a large number.

For example- 9-7

How is Bodmas solved ?
In BODMAS first the Bracket is solved than Division is
B
done then multiplication and then addition and then
O finally the subtraction is done at the end.

D For example-
M 80+[20X{20-(10\5)}]
So in it we will first solve the round Bracket
A =80+[20X{20-2}]
S
=80+[20X18] – now we will solve curly bracket.
= 80+360
=440
Rule 1
Always start simplifying from left to right

Rule 2

First simplify the numbers within the brackets starting from the innermost bracket
means Round Bracket
Rule 3
Division is done before multiplication

Rule 4

Addition comes before subtraction
