ENJOY THE FRESH FISH LIKE:

TAWILIS
Sardinella tawilis is a freshwater sardine found
exclusively in the Philippines. It is the only member of
the genus Sardinella known to exist entirely in fresh
water. Locally, they are known in Filipino as tawilis.

MILKFISH
The milkfish is the sole living species in the family
Chanidae. However, there are at least five extinct
genera from the Cretaceous.

TILAPIA
Tilapia is the common name for nearly a hundred species of
cichlid fish from the coelotilapine, coptodonine,
heterotilapine, oreochromine, pelmatolapiine, and tilapiine
tribes, with the economically most important species placed in
the Coptodonini and Oreochromini.
Mount Macolod, also known
as Mount Maculot, is a
dormant stratovolcano
located in the municipality of
Cuenca, Batangas in the
Philippines. This mountain is
popular among mountain
climbers and campers; it is
the major tourist attraction
of the municipality of
Cuenca. Mt. Maculot is one
of the several scenic
mountains surrounding the
province of Batangas and
undeniably one where Taal
Lake is most beautiful to be
seen from.

Mount Maculot has good and well-diverse natural
resources and a good habitat for birds and
forest animals. The visits of tourists to the mountain
increase the awareness of people on its
beauty and provide reason for its preservation. Two
areas of concern however are: (1) accommodating a
great number of tourists in the future may be a
problem, and (2) such tourists may not be willing to help
in the conservation of the mountain for future
sustainable
use.

• Another good thing is that there is a strong linkage

among tourism, agriculture, environment and economic
development due to Mount Maculot ecotourism.
However, this may not really help a lot for the growth of
local businesses in the area.

• Tourists who had visited Mount Maculot understand

the culture, beliefs and values of the host community
but the cross-cultural communication doesn’t really
revitalizes local ethnic and cultural identity.
