INTRODUCTION

The age-old proverb, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”,

implies that we need to keep our surroundings clean.

Though a proverb, it has many implications in the real

world.
CLEAN INDIAN MISSION

Clean Indian Mission (Swachh


Bharat Abhiyan) is a national
level campaign by the
Government of India to clean
the infrastructure of the country.
This campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014

at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra

Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned a road.


OBJECTIVES

The program includes :-


 Elimination of open defecation.
 Conversion of insanitary toilets to pour flush
toilets.
 Eradication of manual scavenging.
 Municipal Solid Waste Management
CONCEPT OF SWATCH BHARAT

The concept of Swatch Bharat is to pave access for every


person to :-
 Sanitation facilities including Toilets, Solid and Liquid
Waste Disposal Systems, village cleanliness
 Safe and adequate drinking water supply. We have to
achieve this by 2019 as a befitting tribute to Father of the
Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th. Birth anniversary.
GOAL

Every city, town and village is to be ‘clean’, that is,

they will have perfect toilets for all, safe drinking

water, waste disposal systems and clean roads &

lanes.
CONCLUSION
 “PEOPLE SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT CLEANLINESS IS THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY CITIZEN NOT JUST THE
GOVERNMENT.”
