UK – TIER 4 (Student Visa)
• International students from outside the UK or EU must apply
for a student visa. You can only apply for a student visa if you
intend to study a full-time degree course in the UK. Student
visas are not issued for part-time courses. Student’s eligibility
is calculated using a points-based rules system called a Tier 4
Student Visa. Student need 40 points to apply for a student
visa. This is achieved by:
• 'A rated‘ colleges can also issue CAS numbers.=30 POINTS
• Student must provide evidence of funding to pay for both your
course tuition fees and your monthly living costs =10 POINTS.
UK – TIER 4 (Student Visa)
STEP 1 (Enrollment)
– Without IELTS: Min 10+2 passed in English medium with First
Division + 65% above in English subject. (Applicable for 2017 Pass
Out)

• With IELTS: Minimum 55% required in 12th + IELTS 6.0


band overall with each module 5.5 band.
• For Bachelor’s & Master’s, IELTS 6.5 band overall with each
module 5.5 band.

STEP 4 (CAS Requirements)


• Approx total show money is (1 year tuition fee + 1 year living
expenses). GBP 18,000 to GBP 20,000 approx. in case of
single applicant & GBP 25,000 to GBP 28,000 in case of
dependent.
• 28 days old funds are required. 7 DAYS FOR CAS LETTER
FUNDS: REQUIRED /
• 1 Year Tuition Fee + 1ACCEPTABLE
Year Living Expenses (Inner London GBP 1,2650 p.a and
Outer London GBP 9,135 p.a, This information will be given in the offer
letter. ).
• Required Funds: GBP 18,000 to GBP 20,000 approx
• 28 Days old funds are required.
• Living expense of Spouse: £7,605 inner London & £6,120 outer London.
• How can sponsor? Self, Parents and Spouse (if married).
• Banks documents should be on original stationary of the bank with all
the details like: Bank logo, Bank name, Bank address, contact details, date of
issue, signing authority name and designation with bank seal/stamp.
• All the bank statement and deposits should be produced with current
balance certificate.
• There is a list of financial institute which are acceptable in the UK. Please
refer UKBA website before proceeding with the funds management for the
embassy purposes.
When you apply for the visa you must provide:

 A current passport (You need a page in your passport that’s blank on both sides for
your visa)
 Educational and employer documents
 Proof that you can support yourself and pay for your course - this will vary depending
on your circumstances (saving account, education loan, etc.)
 Proof of parental or other legal guardian consent if you’re under 18
 Proof of your relationship with your parent or guardian (Birth certificate)
 Tuberculosis test results
• You’ll need to have a tuberculosis (TB) test if you’re coming to the UK for more than 6
months.
• You’ll be given a chest x-ray to test for TB. If the result of the x-ray isn’t clear you may
also be asked to give a sputum sample (phlegm coughed up from your lungs).
• If your test shows that you don’t have TB, you’ll be given a certificate which is valid
for 6 months from the date of your x-ray. Include this certificate with your UK visa
application.
 You may also need to provide additional documents depending on your circumstances.
STEP 5 (Visa Apply):-

• Online visa application form


• Embassy fee: INR 37,800/- per applicant (subject to change)
• Immigration health surcharge: INR 21,000/- per person
(subject to change)
• Submit documents in nearest VFS centre.
• Student can take priority visa services (visa decision in 4
days) by paying INR 20,000/- (approx) or
• can opt standard services (decision in 1 month).
Apply outside the UK
• You must apply online (
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/apply-visa-type/tier4) for a Tier 4
(General) student visa.
• You’ll need to have your fingerprints and photograph taken at a 
visa application centre (https://www.gov.uk/find-a-visa-application-centre
to get a biometric residence permit) as part of your application.
• You’ll have to collect your biometric residence permit within 10 days of
when you said you’d arrive in the UK (even if you actually arrive at a
later date).
• You may be able to get your visa faster or other services depending on
what country you’re in - check with your visa application centre.

If you want to get a decision more quickly than the standard 8 weeks, you
can apply:
• for priority service - there’s a limited number of places each day
• to use a premium service centre - you’ll need to go in person

• You’ll also need to provide biometric information and pay the healthcare
surcharge.
Overview
Student can apply for a Tier 4 (General) student visa to study in
the UK if he/she is 16 or over and you:
 
• Have been offered a place on a course
• Can speak, read, write and understand English
• Have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course -
the amount will vary depending on your circumstances
• Meet the other eligibility requirements

When to apply
• The earliest you can apply for a visa is 3 months before you start
your course.
• You’ll usually get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks.

You can arrive in the UK before your course starts:
• up to 1 week before, if your course lasts 6 months or less
• up to 1 month before, if your course lasts more than 6 months
• How long you can stay depends on the kind of course you’re doing and what study
you’ve already completed.

What you can and can’t do


 You can:
• Study
• work on vacation
• apply to extend your stay
• work in most jobs - depending on what level your course is and what kind of
sponsor you have

 You can’t:
• get public funds
• work in certain jobs, for example professional sportsperson or sports coach
• study at an academy or a local authority-funded school (also known as a
maintained school)
Getting your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
 If you applied from inside the UK
• Your BRP will be sent to you by courier. You don’t need to collect it.

 If you applied from outside the UK


• Collect your BRP once you’re in the UK.
• You must do this before your vignette expires or within 10 days of
arriving in the UK, whichever is later.
• Check your decision letter. It will tell you to collect your BRP from
either:
• a named Post Office branch
• your sponsor, if you chose this option when you applied
• Bring your passport or travel document with your vignette sticker in
when you collect your BRP.
• You must be over 18 to collect a BRP.
• You can get a fine of up to £1,000 if you don’t collect your BRP.
Eligibility
 You must have:
• an unconditional offer of a place on a course with a 
licensed Tier 4 sponsor
• enough money to support yourself and pay for your course
- the amount will vary depending on your circumstances
• prove your knowledge of the English language

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies


• Education provider will send you a reference number called
a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) once they’ve
offered you a place on a course. You’ll need to enter this on
your visa application.
• You must apply for your visa no more than 6 months after
you receive the CAS.
Family members:
Your family members (dependants) might be able to apply to
join or remain with you in the UK.
 A dependant is either:
• your husband, wife or civil partner
• your unmarried or same-sex partner
• your child under 18 years old - including if they were born in the UK during your stay

 You can apply to bring a dependant to the UK if you’re:


• sponsored by a higher education institution on a course at level 7 or above that lasts 9 months or
more
• a new government-sponsored student on a course that lasts longer than 6 months
• a Doctorate Extension Scheme student

They’ll also have to pay the healthcare surcharge as part of their


application. Check how much they’ll have to pay before they apply.
 
You must have proof you have the money, and that it’s been in your bank
account or your dependant’s bank account for at least 28 days before you
or they apply.
