FRUITS/VEGETABLES BROUGHT FROM
MARKET?
HAVE YOU HEARD OF FOOD
ADULTERATION?
WHAT IS FOOD ADULTERATION?
Addition of IMPURE,
UNSAFE Substances to
a food Item
to increase its Quantity.
DO YOU THINK THE
GRAINS/VEGETABLES/FRUITS YOU BUY
FROM MARKET ARE COMPLETELY SAFE AND
HEALTHY?

WHY?
Conventional Farming (Inorganic Farming)

Some Farmers are practicing the use of

Chemical Fertilizers, Chemical Pesticides
to increase their yield. This is creating
Several HAZARDOUS Health Issues in
today’s Generation…
WHAT ARE THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF
INORGANIC FARMING ?

Effects on Ecosystem-
 -waterway pollution
 -chemical burns to crops
 -increased air pollution
 -acidification of soil
 -mineral depletion of soil
HARMFUL EFFECTS ON HUMAN BEINGS

Eg. Diseases such as -

Different types of Cancer,
Brain & Nervous System damage,

Birth Defects, Infertility,

Damage to the liver, kidneys, lungs
and other body Organs.
HAVE YOU HEARD OF ORGANIC FARMING?
ORGANIC FARMING –
-CROPS ARE GROWN BY USING –
-NATURAL (Organic) FERTILIZERS,
-NATURAL (Organic) PESTICIDES &
-TRADITIONAL SEEDS.
 -Organic Fertilizers are of Organic Origin
 -Eg. COMPOST MANURES, GREEN MANURES.
Organic Fertilizers
 Fertilizers derived from animal matter or
wastes
 Human wastes, vegetable matter
 Eg. Compost Manure,
Crop Residue,
Earthworm manure etc.
Compost (Green) Manure
RICE VARIETIES AVAILABLE AT
THE GROCER’S SHOP-

-BASMATI
-AMBEMOHAR

-KOLAM
-JASMINE

-INDRAYANI
TWO TYPES OF SEEDS-

1)TRADITIONAL DESI VAREITY

2)HYBRID VARIETY

IN AGRICULTURE, Hybrid seed is produced by

cross pollinated plants. Hybrid seed are
commonplace in commercial farming ,
especially to increase crop yields.
THE CALL OF A SOIL
