Seven Environmental

Principles
Environmental Advocacy
- Awareness
Propels us into action
Think and reflect on our actions as most of
the problems are human-induced or
anthropocentric
7 Environmental Principles
Provide lenses to look at the emerging need to
address issues and propel us to immediate
actions.

➔ Fundamental Principles
Core messages and concepts

➔ Guide for (Individual) Action

Provides a perspective for action

➔ Easy to understand ecological

concepts
Not too scientific as to overwhelm us with
too much info but easy enough to grasp the
basic concepts
Environmental Principle 1:
Nature Knows Best
What is it about?
There are natural flows and
systems in nature and, it has
its own way of balancing
and sustaining life.
Environmental Principle 2: All
forms of life are important
What is it about?
The ecosystem can be likened
to a huge jigsaw puzzle with
pieces that fit perfectly well to
create a beautiful picture.
Taking one piece out will
make the jigsaw incomplete
and that gap will affect the
whole picture’s beauty and
purpose.
Environmental Principle 3:
Everything is connected to
everything else What is it about?
Nature is in itself a system where
a group or community of
organisms interact with each
other. Thus, we refer to it as an
“ecosystem.” The relationships
among various elements in nature
vary from simple to complex.
But, they all function as one.
Environmental Principle 4:
Everything Changes
What is it about?
Change occurs naturally in
our environment, but some
changes occur at an
alarming rate that poses a
danger to life on earth- such
is the case of climate
change.
Environmental Principle 5:
Everything Must Go
Somewhere
What is it about?
Everything has a destination
and a place to go to
regenerate its use- such is
the order of life on earth.
Environmental Principle 6:
Ours is a finite earth
What is it about?
Our earth has a finite or
limited resource- we should
be able to operate in such a
way that we are able to put
the resources to good and
efficient use.
Environmental Principle 7:
Nature is beautiful, and we are
stewards of God’s creation
What is it about?
We exploit nature because
we think that we have
dominion over them. But,
nature is left to our
temporary care, we are its
stewards and we have to
sustain its life-giving
purpose as how our God
wills it.
To be able to sustain life on earth, we
should be able to preserve and
protect it from destruction- it
demands our immediate action to
work together and save the only
place we call HOME.
