CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The present study aimed to find out the effectiveness of multimedia learning in grade 12 student's academic performance.

The use of multimedia in education has proven its importance due to its positive impact on the teaching and learning

process. This provides a systematic review of different multimedia in the teaching and learning processes to examine how

multimedia technologies have proven to be a veritable strategy for bridging the gap in the provision of unrestricted access to

quality education and improved learner performance. Student learning performance and effectiveness can be improved by

providing appropriate learning content to them.

We can use new information, such as podcasts, blogs, and streaming video and audio, to engage our students` and effectively

demonstrate concepts as well as to reinforce media literacy technologies. students` can also engage with digital media, such

as photo-sharing, video-publishing, and map-making programs, to give them opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of a

concept and simultaneously reinforce their literacy skills by having them create their content
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This research study aims to investigate the Effectiveness of Multimedia Learning on the Academic
performance of grade 12 Senior High School students' in St. Ignatius Cabuyao Campus

Specifically, this research intended to answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:
1. Age
2. Gender

2. What are the effects of multimedia learning to the respondents?

2.1 Pre-recorded lectures

2.2 Student reporting/presentations

3. How does multimedia learning affect the academic performance of students'?

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

This study will be limited to investigating the effects of multimedia learning to the academic focus on

performance of the studies. The research to assess the effects of the factors such as the pre recorded

lecture and students presentation activities And also this study also aims to determine the demographic

profile profile of the respondents. The research will only be conducted in brgy. Banay Banay, Cabuyao

City, Laguna. The chosen respondents for the research are the grade 12 senior high school students of

St. Ignatius Cabuyao Campus enrolled in academic year 2020 - 2021 with the target number of

respondents for this research will be estimated to be 60-100 students'.The study will be using surveys

to gather data for the research using a free online software called Google forms.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES

Synthesis
The sources show that Multimedia learning can be helpful to students. Multimedia Learning gives students

the chance to access lectures even without going to schools. It also stated that using this method can increase

the productivity of the students and even their overall grade. In spite of the positive effects of Multimedia

Learning to students, it also has negative effects such as students’ being more dependent on technologies and

only a little bit of physical activities. Besides the said negative effects, there is still a chance of students taking

advantage of this method of learning to cheat during classes or during an exam.

CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY
Research Design

Quantitative descriptive correlational design attempts to collect quantifiable information for statistical analysis of the population of the

sample. It is a popular market research tool that allows the researchers to collect and describe the demographic segment nature. This is

employed in the study using a questionnaire to gather the needed data that serve as inputs to the reference model. This involved the

collection of data to answer the questions concerning the current status of the subjects of the study. It also determined information about

the variables. Frequency and percentage distribution were used to describe the profile of the G12 Senior high school of St. Ignatius

Cabuyao, Campus. Researchers also intended to determine the relationship of the 2 variables of the research to uncover relationships

that may have not been previously known.

The data will be gathered by using questionnaire instruments and will be described and interpreted and the numerical values will be

statistically analyzed Mean standard deviation, person product r correlation and multiple regression analysis were used as statistical

tools of the study. The respondents of the study are the Grade 12 Senior high school students of St. Ignatius Cabuyao Campus presently

enrolled for the school year 2020-2021

Research Locale
The study will be conducted at St Ignatius, Cabuyao Campus, Cabuyao, Laguna. St Ignatius

Cabuyao Campus offered its services to Senior High School. It has a total population of

(number) of Senior High School students. This study will be conducted during School Year

2020-2021.
Respondents
In this study, grade 12 senior high school students from the St. Ignatius Cabuyao campus will be

selected to participate in the process. The population was chosen because the researchers believe

that they are the most suitable participants for research because they are the most accessible and use

a suitable learning method for research. Researchers will randomly select 60-100 senior high

schools from selected grade 12 sections of the St Ignatius Cabuyao campus. The total population of

the participants is (blabla no). These respondents are interviewed via social media platforms at any

convenient location the respondent chooses

Sampling Procedure and Techniques
Researchers chose the St. Ignatius Cabuyao campus as the locale for the research about the effects of multimedia learning to

the academic performance of grade 12 senior high school students. In the study, The chosen participants are the grade 12

senior high school students of St. Ignatius Cabuyao Campus. The participants were chosen because the researchers believed

that the grade 12 senior high students are the most accessible and considering that the grade 12 students' have experienced

enough to give useful information needed about the topic of the research. Using the Slovin's formula, with a (xxx) total

population of the grade 12 students and with the margin of error of (x.x%) which is the students who chose the modular

method of learning. The research calculated that the final sample size will be (xxx) grade 12 students. Simple random

sampling is used in this research because it is the most suitable method for the current situation when the researchers are

conducting the research. The researchers decide to perform the sampling in 5 - 6 days with a daily quota of (x-x) participants

everyday. The data will be collected using a survey which will be distributed via online software called Google forms.
Research Instrument
In this study, the researchers prepared a questionnaire that will be given out to a

chosen group of students. Thus, the chosen group of students was allowed to

take each chance answering the survey to state their authentic answers

regarding the study "The effects of Multimedia Learning to the Academic

Performance of Grade 12 Senior High School Students of St. Ignatius Cabuyao

Campus".
Statistical DataorAnalysis
The Responses Data that have collected by the researchers using
questionnaire and surveys through online google forms were cautiously
analyzed to collect the data needed in the study. Students were classified
based on their demographic profile such as age, gender, and strand.

To know the required no. Of respondents of the study . The researchers

used slovin's formula. Using this method the researchers figured the
required number of respondents by collecting the whole population of the
senior high school students of st. Ignatius Cabuyao campus and calculate
it with 0.5 margin of error
