    VI SEMESTER
    INTRODUCTION
    MandiBoat Housing is a Government Society used to provide
    accommodation to the Employees on rent during their job.
    The society is located in Sector 61 of Mohali.
    The housing is divided in clusters adjoined to each other in
    rows.
    Each cluster has 5 storeys with 4 houses on each floor.
    There are 3+1 BHK, 3 BHK AND 2 BHK houses available in
    segregated blocks.
    SITE and LANDSCAPE
    The housing society is well connected to the adjacent public
    spaces with roads.
    The site area is approximately
    There is Parking provision on the ground floors of the clusters
    as well as specified areas for open parking.
    There
    are well maintained green areas in the society with a
    Community Hall in the middle of the society.
    The landscape has seating in the ground for relaxation.
    The water service control is done at the opposite side of the
    entrance.
    LANDSCAPE

     There is a central park with 2’-6”


    wide pathways.
     Landscaping is done in a rectilinear
    manner.
     The elements include street lights,
    benches for sitting.
     The landscape of the society is
    planted with evergreen trees.
     A buffer of trees separates the plot
    from the outdoors.
    PARKING
     Parking provision on the ground floors of
    the clusters as well as specified areas for
    open parking.
     There is no segregation of two and four
    wheeler parking.
     The height of stilt parking is 8’-00”.
     The total parking width is 36’-00”.
     The grid used for Stilt parking is 6’ X 8’.
    BLOCKS
    Division of blocks has been done according to type of house.
    There are three types of housing units.
    • 3+1, 3 and 2 BHK dwellings.
    The 4 apartments on each floor are assembled in a rectilinear
    pattern.
    The water drainage pipes have been enclosed in shafts.
    The grid used for Stilt parking is 6’ X 8’.
    The floor to ceiling height of the houses is 9’-6”.
    DWELLINGS
    3+1 BHK APARTMENTS
    Itis the largest dwelling unit, which contains lobby drawing room,
    dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, servant room, store, 3 balconies.
    The servant room has a separate entrance and attached washroom.

    SERVICES
    The water supply tanks for each house is provided at the terrace
    of each block.
    An extra tank for fire safety purpose has been provided for
    each block.
    There are two lifts and two staircases in each block.
    The lifts and other mechanical works are controlled from the
    terrace, a separate room is made.
    The water drainage is controlled from a station present at the
    end of the society.
    The services are provided through 5’-4” ducts which run
    throughout the elevation of the building.
    LIFTS and STAIRCASE
    There are two staircases in each block; one being the main
    staircase, and the other being made for fire exit purpose.
    The staircase width of fire staircase is 3’-00”.
    The riser of staircase is 7”, which is comfortable for usage.
    Both the staircases and lifts are approached by a 5’-00” wide
    corridor.
     The lifts are suitable to contain 6-7 people at a time.
    LIFTS and STAIRCASE
    MATERIALS
    The construction of the society is Brick masonry.
    The interior walls are plastered and finished with whitewash.
    All the doors and window frames are made of wood and
    painted with white paint in each house.
    The flooring used in the interiors is Terrazzo flooring, whereas
    in the corridors and staircases, flagstone has been used.
    The open parking space is made of cement concrete.
    COMMUNITY HALL
    The community hall is situated in the middle of the society
    surrounded by green area.
    It is square base plan with an octagonal second storey.
    It has a foyer at the entrance before the main hall, which is
    attached further to a kitchen and pantry for service.
    The level of the hall ascends two steps and further descends
    two steps on entering the hall.
    The hall is used for social gatherings and other occasions.
    The first floor of the hall is approached by a separate set of
    staircase from two sides.
    COMMUNITY HALL
    The staircase has a single flight of 16 steps, 6’-00” wide with a
    7” riser.
    The walls of the main hall has large openings and are unable to
    bear the load of the hall on the first floor.
    For that purpose, there are two columns in the hall.
    The ground floor hall is rectangular in plan with dimensions
    31’-6” X 16’-6”.
    The octagon hall has a 10’-00” side.
    The distance of landing till the entrance is 12’-00”.

    ORIENTATION
    The orientation of the society is in east-west direction.
