    INSPIRATION

    BOARD
    African art describes the modern and historical
    paintings, sculptures, installations, and other
    visual culture from native or indigenous
    Africans and the African continent.
    Despite this diversity, there are
    some unifying artistic themes when
    considering the totality of the visual
    culture from the continent of Africa.

    Various forms of textiles


    are made including
    chitenge, mud cloth and
    kente cloth.
    African jewelry is made
    from such diverse
    materials as Tiger's eye
    stone, haematite, sisal,
    coconut shell, beads and
    ebony wood.
    Dressing, drinking
    and dancing - Don't
    we love these three
    things the most
    about weddings?

    function is where
    one enjoys and
    dances as if no one
    is watching.
    Celebration mood
    is the theme.

    African fabrics and prints


    are worn with pleasure and
    it is every woman’s pride to
    be wearing an African print
    at an occasion.

    African fabrics have


    bright colours,
    idiosyncratic designs
    and patterns that are
    hand-made which
    give us a sense of a
    rich cultural
    meaning.
    Rust is an orange-red-brown color
    resembling iron oxide

    Rust being a combination


    of orange and red , it
    represents warmth,
    energetic , sensuality and
    power Blue is soothing and symbolically
    represents trust and harmony
    The shade of blue chosen for the
    collection is associated with
    meanings of refreshing, feminine,
    calming, sophisticated, energy,
    wisdom, serenity, wholeness,
    creativity, emotional balance,
    spiritual grounding.

    Colour combinations chosen to make


    the collection for the show represents
    all thing intense and passionate
