Password Door Lock Using Arduino: SHARATH. B - 18071A02B1 VINITHA. S - 18071A02B2

This document presents a password door lock system using an Arduino. It aims to provide safety and security at common places like homes and public areas. The system will use a keypad to enter a password stored in a database connected to an Arduino. If the correct password is entered, the Arduino will signal a servo motor to unlock the door. This provides a more secure locking/unlocking mechanism than traditional mechanical locks. The document outlines the objectives, literature review, methodology, proposed system block diagram, results, conclusion, future scope, and references.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION / MOTIVATION OF THE
PROJECT

The need of safety can be achieved by making locks which can be electrical or mechanical with
one or a few keys, but for locking a big area many locks are required. As everyone knows old
fashioned locks are heavy weight and fragile also depending on the tools there fore electronic
locks are given more value than those of mechanical locks.
Nowadays every device’s operation is based on digital technology. For example, technology
based identity devices are used for automatic door unlocking or locking. These locking systems
are used to control the movement of door and are functional without requiring a key to lock or
unlock the door. These locking systems are controlled by a keypad and are installed at the side
hedge of the door. The main objective of this project is to give safety at every common places
like home, public places.
In this user would give a known password. The information will be stored in database. When
the correct passcode will be entered, the microcontroller will give in struction to servo motor.
Servo motor will perform the action on door unlocking. Thus, what we want is digital
technology to construct an integrated and well customized safety system at a price which is
reasonable.

Objectives
In our daily lives, safety is a major concern. Every person requires a sense
of safety. Our security pattern includes an access control system for
doors. Traditional locks are no longer as secure as they once were; anyone
can gain access by breaking these locks. We need to create a system that
will assist 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Only authorized individuals
have access to restricted areas thanks to a password-based door lock
system. Arduino is in charge of the entire system. A keypad can be used
to enter the password . The door opens if the password matches the
password entered in Arduino. This password-based bolt structure will
provide clients with a more secure and low-effort locking-opening
mechanism. Mechanical door locks will be replaced by electronic door
locks in the future, thanks to the security door lock automation
The development of a door access system includes many different features
from as simple as keypad to as complex as using smart cards and biometrics.
The Door Access System – Arduino Based is developed to overcome the issue
of up grading and maintenance the system that occur in the existing system.
This report discusses on the door access system using Arduino.
Arduino is a type of microcontroller that uses its own programming language.
It has its own electronic prototyping plat form to be used during experiment.
This project has two features as inputs, which are keypad and fingerprint
scanner. While the outputs are magnetic switch, indicator , LCD display and a
siren.
Interfacing all inputs and outputs with Arduino produced accurate results in
accessing the door based on the accuracy results obtained by performing a
test on five individuals with four different fingerprints each person. Then
password using keypad and minutiae obtained by scanning fingerprint are
clarified as inputs, while the output is the result displayed on LCD display. This
project is reliable as it could increase the security level of door access system
by implementing simple approach as Arduino

FLOWCHART
RESULT

In the LCD displays the user “ENTER

PASSWORD”. The entered password is
displayed as characters on the LCD. The user
has entered the correct password and the LCD
shows “ACCESS GRANTED” on the LCD. The
servo motor deflects thus unlocking the door.
When the system gets locked, password
cannot be entered through keypad. Now only
owner has the power to unlock or lock the
door with the password he knows.
Conclusion

This project is productive in providing enough

security as long as the password is not shared. In
future this “Password based Door Lock System”
can be provided maximum security by the above
enhancements in order to completely satisfy
user’s needs. Hence, a common man can afford
to buy such locking system in minimal cost to
keep his valuables safely without any worries

12
FUTURE SCOPE

security level can be increased by adding a biometric fingerprint

scanner. We can interface sensors like Fire, LPG, PIR motion
detector to microcontroller in case of any accident so that door
will open automatically. We can interface camera to the micro
controller so that it could capture the picture of the thief who is
trying to breach the security. This simple circuit can be used at
places like home to ensure better safety. With a slight
modification, this project can also be used to control the
switching of loads through password. It can also be used at
organizations to ensure authorized access to highly secured
places.
