INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background Information
This project work is on the construction of an F.M transmitter this system consists
of four discrete modules namely the audio frequency (AF) amplifier (class A) the
modulator the master oscillator and the radio frequency (RF) amplifier (ClassC)
these formed the conventional events for building FM transmitter here the signal
(from the microphone) is fed into the (AF) for amplification then to the modulator
which combines the modulating signal with the carrier wave transports the
modulated signal through (RF) for final amplification to the antenna via the
resonance circuit for propagation the transmitter was tested using radio receiver it
transmitted clearly at the frequency of 108 MH3 and the coverage was to metres.
1.2 Objective
The objective of this project is to construct an
electronically operated system known as FM
transmitter capable of transmitting a frequency
modulated signal with a littler or no distortion

Introductory Statement

A transmitter can be a separate piece

of electronic equipment, or an electrical
circuit within another electronic device.
The transmitter itself generates a radio
frequency alternating current, which is
applied to the antenna.
There were many key influences that helped the radio evolve into what
it is today. There was no two-way communication going on, and even
HISTORICAL speaking was not yet possible via radio waves. But the idea that a form
DEVELOPMENTS of electrical waves could be sent wirelessly to others across vast
distances to send messages was innovative.

Although James Clerk Maxwell had already theorized that

electromagnetic waves existed, Heinrich Hertz was the first to actually
prove it. In 1886 and 1887 Hertz developed an apparatus to prove that
electromagnetic waves could be sent and received wirelessly.
HISTORICAL
DEVELOPMENTS

Practical frequency modulation (FM) transmission was

invented by Edwin Armstrong in 1933, who showed that it
was less vulnerable to noise and static than AM. The first FM
radio station was licensed in 1937.

It was demonstrated to the Federal Communications

Commission (FCC) for the first time in 1940, and the first
commercial FM radio station began broadcasting in 1945
(Mohn, 2007).
