    The Marauders were a group of four friends at Hogwarts comprised of James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin. They were all placed in Gryffindor house and became animagi in their fifth year to support Remus during his transformations into a werewolf. Outside of Hogwarts, James married Lily and joined the Order of the Phoenix, while Sirius was made Harry's godfather and also joined the Order. Remus likewise joined the Order during both wizarding wars. All four members ultimately died confronting Lord Voldemort or those allied with him.
