Present Perfect

The present perfect tense is used to show the


following:
• An action that happened at an indefinite time
in the past
• An action that started in the past and
continues on to the present

Past Perfect

The past perfect tense is used to show a past action


that happened before another past action.

Of two past actions, one is happening before the


other, the first action takes the past perfect tense,
and the second action takes the simple past tense.

restaurant, she had made a
phone call to her mother.

Future Perfect

The future perfect tense is used to show the


following:
• An action or condition that will occur before
another future action or before a specific time in
the future
• Duration of an action up until another future action
or event.
Future Perfect

The use of future perfect is parallel to the past


perfect. If there are two future actions, the first one
completed takes the future perfect tense. The second
one to be completed takes the simple present perfect.

Jun will have prepared by


the time the bus picks him
up. (future action happening before
another)

Jun will have returned


home by 6 o’clock. (future
action happening before a specific
time )

not be confused about the time to avoid misunderstanding (SCV:

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE
Present Progressive

Is used to show an action or condition that is in


the present progressive.

To form the present progressive, the auxiliary


verb is or are is added to the present participle
form of the main verb.
PARTICIPLE

In grammar, a participle is a form of a verb


that can be used in compound tenses of the
verb.

Future Progressive
