BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
• Domestic work is one of the most important sources of
employment for Philippine country and abroad. About one-
quarter of Philippine workers deployed overseas every year enter
domestic service.
• Domestic work is both an integral and invisible part of Filipino
society. The practice of employing domestic help historically
embedded in Filipino culture and continues to be part of the
everyday life.
• Related traditions, such as migrating in search of employment and
the boarding of less well-of relatives in exchange for household
help, likewise are socially accepted and widespread in occurrence.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
• The presence and affordability of domestic help allows Filipino in
middle and upper income classes to leave their household duties and
enter workforce, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the
country.
• Domestic work also helps alleviate national poverty by providing an
important source of employment, mainly for the poorest and most
vulnerable members of the society and by providing much needed
income in the form of remittances.
• Thus, before achieving every desirable goal, there are risks and
challenges to overcome. Therefore, this study is conducted to discover
the challenges that every domestic Filipino workers faces, as well as
the problems that they encounter on a regular basis.
STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM
This study will seek to answer the following questions:
a. What are the different challenges of Domestic Filipino Workers in
terms of:
• Cultural Difference
• Work Environment
• Mental and Physical Health
• Employer
• Struggles of being away from their family
b. How do they cope with this challenges?
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The result of the study are beneficial to the following group of people:
• Domestic Filipino Workers- the Filipino workers will be able to learn
different strategies and coping mechanisms on various challenges they will
or may encounter.
• Family- This will inform and educate the family of the employee on what
are the different challenges they encounter and how hard it is to be in the
other country working for their future. This will also help them appreciate
the sacrifices of their relatives working abroad.
• Teachers and Students- This study will help the educators to acquire more
knowledge and information about the challenges that the Filipino workers
face in a daily basis.
• Future Researchers- The result of this study will provide valuable literature
for those who are planning to undertake the same study as their reference.
This study will serve as a basis for future endeavor in their field.

utilizing narrative inquiry approach.

STUDY
• They are the persons in the community who works as domestic helper
abroad. There will be a total of ten (10) informants in the study that
will became the source of data.
• Criterion Sampling
1. Must be a Filipino citizen that works abroad as domestic helper.
2. Been working abroad for 2 years and above.
