DRUGS

• any substance that is either natural or


synthetic that stimulates, depresses or irritates
specialized cells

• It is any substance that


brought about physical,
psychological and behavioral
change to the person taking it.
DRUG ABUSE
• it is the use of drug contrary to its use

DRUG ADDICTION
• it is the state of chronic or periodic intoxication
detrimental to the individual and society at large
produced by repeated drug consumption
DRUG DEPENDENCE

• it is the state of psychic or physical dependence


or both on dangerous drug arising in a person
following administration or use of that drug in a
periodic or continuous basis
Positive Effect of Drugs
When properly used or
taken:
• produces the desired result
• treatment of diseases and ailment
• can be an instrument to a healthy body
NEGATIVE Effect of Drugs
• also referred to as drug abuse
• affect the state of the body and mind
• either depressing or stimulating
• Dilated pupils
• Elevated blood pressure and heart rate
• Chest pain
• Euphoric effect or light feeling
• Lung and Brain damage
• Death

• It increase alertness, alleviate fatigue, reduce hunger,
wakefulness, locomotion, and excitation

(ECSTACY, PARTY DRUG or X)


• known as DOWNERS, HYPNOTIC DRUG and
SEDATIVES that affects the central nervous system.
• it depresses and weakens the body
• it is also known as PSYCHEDELICS and DISSOCIATIVES
that affects the central nervous system.
• it affects the way we think, the sensation, self-awareness and
emotions that causes hallucination and delusions to the person
taking drugs
•Ephedrine – main ingredient of shabu causing brain damage
•Toluene – chemical use for paints, adhesive etc.
• Methanol/Alcohol – Gasoline Additives
• Acetone – nail cleaner
• Lithium – Batteries acid
• Sulfuric acid – drain cleaner
• Muriatic acid – pool acid

Penalties under RA 9165

ARTICLE II Sec. 11 (possession of prohibited drugs)

Imprisonment of 12 to 20 years and a fine ranging from


P300k to 400k for less than 5 grams of prohibited drugs
mentioned in the law.
