SPEED
REACTION TIME
SPEED
Speed is the ability to perform a task and cover
a distance in the shortest time possible.
Speed is essential in team sports because it
enables the participant to cover the activity in a
fast rate.
Having a greater speed helps a player carry out
his/her task efficiently.
REACTION TIME
Reaction time is the amount of time it takes to
make physical response to a stimulus.
A lesser reaction time allows a player to
respond to the actions made by the opponent
within an appropriate time.
This gives you opportunity to perform the
necessary skills when that opportunity comes.
SOFT BALL
WHAT IS SOFTBALL
Softball is a game similar to baseball but played
on a smaller diamond area and uses a larger ball
than the latter.
The set of rules of baseball is almost the same
with softball. They differ in the way the ball is
pitched.
The objective of the game is to score more runs
than the opposing team after the end of the game.
HISTORY OF SOFTBALL
Softball is a game adapted from baseball. This game
uses a larger ball but with a smaller field.
It was in 1887 that this was developed in Chicago which
is considered as an indoor game.
The other names given to this sport are indoor baseball,
soft bund ball, mush ball, and kitten ball for the reason
that it is played by women.
It was only in 1926 that it earned the name softball.
HISTORY OF SOFTBALL
The Fédération Internationale de Softball
(International Softball Federation), which was
formed in 1952, acts as liaison between more
than 40 softball organizations of several
countries.
The federation coordinates international
competition and regular regional and world
championship tournaments for men and
women.
HISTORY OF SOFTBALL
It was removed from the Games following the 2008
Summer Olympics but was added back to the program of
the 2020 Summer Olympics, which were postponed until
2021, to a worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
The fundamentals of softball are the same as those of
baseball.
Batting and fielding strategy are similar, but softball is
played on a much smaller area, and a game is only seven
innings long.
