Definition of English Prepositions
In general, a preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, personal pronoun, or noun phrase
to indicate direction, location, time, place relationship or introduce an object.

Secara umum, preposisi adalah kata atau kumpulan kata yang digunakan sebelum kata benda, kata ganti
orang, atau frasa benda untuk menunjukkan arah, lokasi, waktu, hubungan tempat atau mengenalkan
sebuah objek.
Function
The function of prepositions in sentences is to explain
direction, place, position, time, how something is done,
cause and effect, comparison and so on. Prepositions come
before nouns and show the relationship between the object
of the preposition and other words.

The time prepositions that we commonly encounter are in, on, and at. The meaning is more or
less the same, namely "in" or "on

1. In: used for long periods of time, such as centuries, years, seasons, and months. Example: I
was born in 2000. / I was born in 2000.
She likes to see flowers in the spring. /Dia suka melihat bunga-bunga di musim semi.

2.On: used for dates and days.


Example:Tania will held a birthday party on November 15th. / Tania akan mengadakan
pesta ulangtahun pada tanggal 15 November.

3.At: used for a specific time, namely hours.


Example: I'll see you at 5! / I'll see you at 5!

The most common prepositions of place are in, on, and at. In indicates a general
place, and on is more specific, while at is very specific.

Example: We live in Surabaya. / Kita tinggal di Surabaya.

They said your house is on Jalan Melati. / Mereka bilang rumahmu

towards (towards), around (around), up (up), down ( down), through, past, etc.
This preposition indicates the movement of an object or person.
Example: I like to cycle down this road.
