Exposition Text

An analytical exposition text evaluates the writer's perspective on a phenomenon. The purpose is to persuade the audience to see an issue from the writer's viewpoint. An exposition text introduces the topic and thesis statement, then provides supporting details with facts and examples, and concludes by restating the thesis. Exposition texts use simple present tense, connectives like "furthermore" and "moreover," and generic participants. Common forms include speeches, legal defenses, newspaper articles, letters, essays, and political leaflets.
