    NEWS WRITING
    NEWS STORY
    A news story is a written or
    recorded (or, occasionally, live)
    article or interview that informs the
    public about current events,
    concerns, or ideas.
    Dos and Don’ts
    1. Avoid inappropriate use of adjectives. It tends your news
    story to be biased.
    2. For quantities 1-9, spell out (one, two, three,…, nine)(isa,
    dalawa,…, siyam). For quantities 10 and above, indicate
    the number.
    3. Use active voice.
    4. State the complete name when first mentioned, then use
    only the surname in the succeeding paragraphs.
    5. Do not use Mr. and Mrs. To address someone involved in
    the news story.
    6. Do not insert your own opinion. Stick to facts.
    7. Always be in LAYMAN’s term.
    8. One sentence-one paragraph rule
