Climate Change
Hundreds of Projects have been initiated by the federal government and provincial departments
i.e., Ten Billion Tree Tsunami, Clean Green Pakistan Index, Ecosystem Restoration, WASH, Climate
resilient Urban Development and Green Building Code are one of the major initiatives in
addressing climate change in the country.
One of the major cause of climate change is global warming so Pakistan is doing its best to control
global warming by taking control over the release of carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere this can
only done by planting more and more trees and introducing electric cars that don’t use combustion
fuel to operate
Climate Policy and Frameworks:
•Pakistan developed a National Climate Change Policy in 2012 to outline its
strategy for addressing climate-related challenges.
•Thecountry was also in the process of preparing its National Climate Change
Adaptation Policy to better cope with the impacts of climate change
Renewable Energy Development:
•Pakistanaimed to diversify its energy mix by increasing the share of renewable
energy sources like wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.
•Projectssuch as wind farms and solar power plants were being developed to
reduce reliance on fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions
Afforestation and Reforestation:
•The Billion Tree Tsunami project in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province aimed to plant a billion
trees to combat deforestation and increase the country's forest cover.
•Similar afforestation and reforestation initiatives were being considered in other provinces as
well.
Water Resource Management:
Pakistan was working on improving its water management
practices to address water scarcity and better manage its
water resources, especially in the face of changing
precipitation patterns.
Disaster Preparedness and
Management:
Given Pakistan's vulnerability to
extreme weather events, efforts were
being made to improve disaster
preparedness and response systems to
mitigate the impact of climate-related
disasters.
