RESPONSIBLE
TOURISM
Responsible Tourism is about "making
better places for people to live in and
better places for people to visit."
Responsible Tourism requires that
operators, hoteliers, governments, local
people, and tourists take responsibility, and
take action to make tourism more
sustainable.
Agri Tourism“
Agritourism is where agriculture and
tourism meet to provide you with an
amazing educational experience, whether it
be a tour of a farm or ranch, a festival, or a
cheese-making class. Farmers, ranchers,
and wineries turn their land into a
destination and open their doors to the
public in order to teach more about what
they do.

4
Ecosystem Tourism
Ecosystem tourism is a supply-led
tourism strategy that, through the
central theme of ecosystem integrity,
enables sustainable development.
Sustainable tourism
Sustainable tourism is defined by
the UN Environment Program and
UN World Tourism Organization as
“tourism that takes full account of
its current and future economic,
social and environmental impacts,
addressing the needs of visitors,
the industry, the environment, and
host communities.

has been one of the fastest-growing tourism niches in
the Philippines. Its promise of sustained
environmental, social, and economic gains makes
ecotourism the preferred type of development for
different tourism organizations.

Activities of
Ecotourism
➢ Hiking/Trekking - Most destinations will likely feature hikes ranging from easy to difficult and offer
excursions that vary between a few hours to even a few days.

➢ Wildlife Viewing - No matter if it's an animal safari, whale watching or bird watching, wildlife viewing can
be an ideal way to witness nature in action while reducing environmental impact. Elephant safaris are
becoming increasingly common all over the world, especially in Africa and Asia.
➢ Horseback Riding - Horseback riding is a unique way to experience the overall diversity of a specific
destination and travel through a wide array of terrains. It's also an activity that even beginners can enjoy, no
matter where the path leads you.
➢ Scuba Diving/Snorkeling - Discover dazzling underwater coral formations and abundant sea life via scuba
diving or snorkeling. The Great Barrier Reef remains one of the globe's most spectacular natural wonders and
is considered a terrific spot for scuba diving or snorkeling.

16
➢ Zip Line Excursion - While high in the upper canopy of the forest, whiz past rainforest terrain or glide
along with stunning vistas of the ocean and surrounding mountains. This activity is also a terrific way to
learn about the surrounding ecosystem as most outfitters make it a point to teach participants about the local
ecosystem.
➢ Hot Air Ballooning - Soar above the landscape via a hot air balloon and get a bird's eye view like you've
never seen before.
➢ Kayaking - Kayaking is a wonderful way to explore waterways and the surrounding landscape of a
destination, particularly areas inaccessible to cars or boats.
