ARTS VI

After this lesson the students are going to:


• Identify all the elements and principles of art that use
in our activity
• Create your own design in commercial art.
Standards in creating an artwork
• Follow the instruction
• Participate in group activity and be cooperative
• Don’t make unnecessary noise

Criteria in creating an artwork

• Used tools/materials appropriately
• Time management & Neatness

Commercial art
Commercial art is an art of creative services, referring to art
created for commercial purposes, primarily advertising.
Commercial art uses a variety platforms(magazines, apps,
websites, television, social media and etc..) for viewers with
the intent of promoting sales and interest of products, services,
and ideas.
TYPES OF
COMMERCIAL ARTS

Advertising Art – These are


paintings, illustration, photographs,
videos and media created for
advertising purposes.
Publishing Art – arts
found on books cover,
magazines, newspaper and
notebooks.

Decorative Art – art


services that involves
decoration of house, stage and
office.
Product Packaging
Design – art services
involves designing packaging
of different products.
Elements of Arts – are the building blocks of an
artwork.

Elements Applied in Commercial Art


1. Line - an element of art defined by a point moving in
space.
2. Shape - An element of art
that is two-dimensional, flat
enclosed area, or limited to
height and width.

3. Form - An element of at
that is three-dimensional and
encloses volume; include
height, width and depth( as in
a cube, a sphere, a Pyramid, or
a cylinder).
4. Color - An element of art
made up of three properties
hue, value, and intensity.

5. Value - The lightness or


darkness of tone or colors.
6. Space - An element of art
by which positive and
negative areas are defined or
sense of depth achieved in a
work of art. It is the way
things are arranged in art.
7. Texture - An element of
art that refers to the way things
feel or look as if they might
feel if touched.
Principles of design - is the instruction or the direction
to help us organize and arrange the elements.
Principles Applied in Commercial Art
1. Rhythm - a principle of design that indicates movement,
created by the careful placement of repeated elements in a
work of art to cause a visual tempo or beat.
2. Balance - A way of
combining elements to add a
feeling of equilibrium or
stability to a work of art. Major
types are symmetrical and
asymmetrical.
• Symmetrical Balance -
means that the work of art is
the same on one side as the
other, a mirror image.
• Asymmetrical Balance -
means that the two halves of
the work of are different.
3. Unity - A principle of
design that unifies all other
principles within a piece of
work, allowing each
individual element to coexist
with one another to form an
aesthetically pleasing design.
4. Pattern - A principle of
design that is defined as
regular arrangement of
repeated same elements,
example line, shape, colors
over and over again.
5. Harmony - A way of
combining similar elements in
an artwork to accent their
similarities.

6. Contrast - A principle of
design that refers to the
arrangement of opposite
elements and effects.
7. Movement - A principle
of design used to create the
look and feeling of action and
to
guide the viewer's eyes
through the work of art.
Activity: Rubrics for Creating Commercial Art

Instruction:
Create your own
commercial art that
intend for promoting
your product. Consider
the elements and
principles applied in
commercial art. Tell
something about it.
ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Look for some magazines or newspaper.
Cut at least 3 pictures of commercial art. Tell something about
it and list all principles and elements of art applied.
