Do you remember what natural

died in the land of Canaan?

Here’s a clue……
Something about Jacob and his sons leaving
Canaan because there wasn’t any ______ left in
the land.

After this the Israelites settled in Egypt, but

they began to outnumber the Egyptians so they
were made slaves in Egypt.
At first the people were accepted by
the Egyptians and lived peacefully.
But things didn’t stay that way for
the Hebrews….

The Hebrews were made slaves and were

now know as the Israelites.
They were treated very badly.

So the Jews prayed

to God to help them.
God answered their
prayers.
God chose a special
man to lead the Jews –
someone who was
special since the day
he was born. That man
was Moses………
A brief story of
Moses...
•The Pharaoh of Egypt was worried that the slaves
(the Hebrews) will one day turn against him so he
orders his men to kill all the Jewish baby boys...

1. Moses was a baby and also

a Hebrew. His mother was
scared that he would be killed
so she placed him in a basket
made of reeds and placed him
in the river.
2. The Pharaoh’s
daughter was by the
water when she saw the
basket containing the
baby. So she rescued the
baby, named him Moses
and brought him up in
the palace as a prince.
3. Moses discovered after he
had grown up as an Egyptian
that he really was a Hebrew.
And when he was older he
looked around at the way the
Jews were treated in Egypt
and felt very upset. One day
Moses lost his temper and
killed an Egyptian slave
master for whipping a
Hebrew slave. So he fled
from the city and ran away to
another land. Moses did not
return for a long time.
4. While Moses was tending
sheep in another land he came
across a sacred place and
discovered that a bush was
burning but it was not smoking or
being destroyed. This was
because God was controlling it.
God spoke to Moses through the
fire. Moses didn’t know what to
do:
When God spoke to him from the
burning bush He told him he
must go back and free the
Hebrews from slavery.

7. The last plague meant that the Pharaoh’s son was killed. The Hebrew slaves
were saved because they painted lamb’s blood over their doors to protect
them from the angel of darkness.

Before the Hebrews escaped they had a meal.

We often call this the Passover meal. Because
the angel of death passed over the Hebrews and
saved them.
