Where are barcodes used?
Common 1-D Barcode Types

UPC-A Code 39 Code 128 Interleaved 2 of 5

EAN-8 Code-93 Codabar Pharmacode

1D code specifications
• In most cases, 1D barcodes are read from left to right
• In most cases , the widths of the spaces and bars relate
to a specific character in the barcode
• The margins should be at least seven to ten times wider than the narrowest bar
width in the barcode
1D -> 2D
Common 2-D Codes

Data Matrix MaxiCode

QR Code Aztec Code

Data Matrix specifications
• 3,116 numeric or 2,335 alphanumeric characters
• Error correction improves read rates
• Reading accuracy
• 1 misread error in 10.5 million scans Clocking

Intelligent image buffering
• Control the amount of images being
sent to a server:
• Eliminate redundant images, saves
server space
• Choose how many images max to
save for review
• Image tracking is used to identify
codes as they move through the FOV
DataMan Scripting
• JavaScript Editor in DataMan Readers
• Advanced Data Formatting
• Conditional based outputs
• Access to data string, inputs, and
outputs
