    Ques : What is research paper writing ?
    Research paper writing is an art of
    scientific investigation. A careful study
    regarding a particular concern or
    problem using scientific methods . It is a
    method of critical thinking.
    “ Characteristic of research”
    • > It must have a systematic approach.
    • > Research is based on logical reasoning.
    • > The data or knowledge derived should be real-time from actual
    observations in real settings.
    • > In-depth analysis of data collected is done.
    • > It must create a path for new questions.
    • > It is analytical in nature.
    • > It must be accurate Objectives of research.
    Objectives of research

    • > Defining and redefining the problem.


    • > Formulating the hypothesis or suggested
    solutions.
    • > Collecting analyzing and evaluating data.
    • > Making deductions and reaching conclusions.
    • > Testing the conclusions to determine whether
    they fit in the
    • formulating hypothesis or not.
    Research methodology(RM): The specific
    procedures or techniques used to identify,
    select, process and analyze information on
    a topic is called RM. It allows the reader to
    critically evaluate the overall validity and
    reliability of a study.

    Quantitative research
    • It is a structured way of collecting data
    and analyzing it to draw conclusion.
    • It involves a large mass.
    • It can be done through data collection
    tools like online surveys , questionaries
    and polls.
    Qualitative research
    • > It is a process that is about an inquiry. It helps create in-
    depth understanding of problems and issues.(sample size is
    restricted)
    • > It is dependent on the experience of the researchers and
    the questions used in the sample/questionaries.
    • > The methods used for qualitative research are one on one
    interview case study, record keeping, process of
    observation, focus groups, etc.
    Plagiarism
    It is a theft. Primary, secondary and tertiary credit must be
    given. Copying someone else's work without giving credit is
    Plagiarism. The sources cited in the research paper are
    mentioned as references and bibliography given at the end of
    the paper. References include research articles, journals,
    anthologies, interviews, diagrams, photographs, etc. cited
    from other sources.
    Format of research paper writing

    1. Front Matter/Prefatory:
     > Title of the research paper
     > Author’s(co-author’s) name and address
     > Abstract
     > Keywords
    2. Body:
     > Introduction
     > Theoretical and experimental section
     > Data interpretation
     > Discussion
     > Conclusion
    3. End/Back Matter/Supplimentary Part:
     > Acknowledgement(for technical/financial help)
     > Appendix
     > References(APA/MLA format)
    IEEE Format
    A. Page Layout:
     > A 4 size.
     > Margins(Top 19 mm, Bottom 43 mm, Left = Right = 14.32 mm).
     > Two column format.
    B. Page Style:
     > Justified.
     > Text Font: Time Not Roman.
     > Title 24 pt Regular; Author’s name 11 pt Regular; Affiliation 10 pt Italics;
    Email id 9 pt Regular.
     > Sub Headings: 10 pt.
     > All 1st alphabets words in the heading to be capiatalized except
    prepositions and conjunctions.
     > Figures and Tables: Centralized.
     > Figure Captions: must be numbered(1,2,…) caption must be 8 pt
    regular.
     > Page Numbers, Headers and Footers : Not used.
     > Links and Bookmarks: Not used.
     > References(Heading) must not be numbered.
     > References should be 8 pt.
     > Heading acknowledgement must not be numbered.
