If a man or 2 women or 3 boys can do a piece of work in 44 days, then the same piece of work will be done by 1
man, 1 woman and 1 boy in:
A. 21 days
B. 24 days
C. 26 days
D. 33 days
1 man = 2 women = 3 boys

1 woman = 1/2 man and 1 boy = 1/3 man
So, [1+[1/2]+[1/3]]men=[11/6men]
Now, 1 man can do the piece of work in 44 days
11/6men can do it in [44×(6/11)]= 24 days
Two men undertake to do a piece of work for Rs.400. One alone can do it in 6 days, the other in 8 days. With
the help of a boy, they finish it in 3 days. The boy's share is
A. Rs.40
B. Rs.50
C. Rs.60
D. Rs.80
One man's 1 day's work = 1/6

Another man's 1 day's work = 1/8
Boy's 1 day's work = 1/3−[1/6+1/8]=1/24
Ratio of their shares = 1/6:1/8:1/24 = 4:3:1
Boy's share = Rs. [400×18]=Rs.50.
A leak in the lower portion of a tank can empty the full tank in 9 hrs. An inlet pipe fills water at the rate of 10
litres per minute. When the tank is full, the inlet is opened and due to leak, the tank is empty in 16 hrs. How
many litres does the cistern hold?

Work done by the inlet in 1 hr = 1/9−1/16=7/144

Work done by the inlet in 1 min. = (7/144×1/60) =7/8,640
Volume of 7/8,640 part = 10 litres.
Whole volume = 10×8,640/7=12,342 litres.
A wizard named Nepo says “I am only three times my son’s age. My father is 40 years more than twice my
age. Together the three of us are a mere 1240 years old.” How old is Nepo?
Let the age of nepo be x years,

age of his father is (40+2x),
age of his son (x/3)
(40+2x)+x+(x/3)=1240
solving this equation we get the age of nepo i.e. (x) is 360 years old
A certain amount of solution contains 18% spirit. 8 litres of the solution is taken out and replaced with water.
The resultant solution contains 15% spirit. Find the volume (in litres) of the solution
let x = Amount in liters of the solution

.18(x-8) = .15(x)
.18x - 1.44 = .15x
.18x - .15x = 1.44
.03x = 1.44
x = 1.44/.03 x = 48 liters is the volume of the solution
G(0)=-1, G(1)=1, G(N)=G(N-1) - G(N-2), G(5)= ?
G(5) = G(4) - G(3)

= (G(3) - G(2)) - (G(2) - G(1))
= ( (G(2) - G(1)) - (G(1) - G(0))) - ( (G(1) - G(0)) - 1)
By expanding like this and substituting values, you will get answer as -2
Nine persons went to a hotel. 8 persons spent Rs. 12 each on their meal and the ninth person spent Rs. 8
more than average expenditure of all nine. What was total money spent by them?
Total money spent by 8 persons = 8 × 12 = Rs. 96

Let money spent by the 9th person = xx
=> Total money spent by all the 9 persons =96+x=96+x
=> Average expenditure of all the 9 persons = [96+x]/9
Given, x=([96+x]/9)+8
⇒9x=96+x+72
⇒8x=168
⇒x=21
⇒9x=96+x+72⇒8x=168⇒x=21
Total money spent by them =96+x=96+21=117
When a student weighing 45 kgs left a class, the average weight of the remaining 59 students increased by 200g.
What is the average weight of the remaining 59 students?
Let average age of 60 students be=x

After a student left the class =(60x-45)/59=x+.2
on solving we get x=56.8
so the average of 59 students =56.8+.2=57
The maximum number of girls among them 2923 bags and 3239 eyeliners can be distributed in such a way
that each student gets the same number of bags and eyeliners.
Max no of girls=HCF of 2923 and 3239= 79

If log 0.318=0.3364 and log 0.317=0.33320 then log 0.319 =?

log 0.318 / log 0.317 = log (0.318 - 0.317) = log 0.001 = 0.3364 / 0.33320 = 1.0096
now,

A sum of Rs. 427 is to be divided among A, B and C such that 3 times A’s share, 4 times B’s share and 7 times

A cat leaps 5 leaps for every 4 leaps of a dog, but 3 leaps of the dog are equal to 4 leaps of the cat. What is
the ratio of the speed of the cat to that of the dog?

Let cat's 1 leap = 3 meter and dogs 1 leap = 4 meter.
Then, ratio of speed of cat and dog = 3*5/4*4 = 15:16
A diamond was broken into 3 parts in the ratio of 2: 3: 5. If the value of the diamond is in proportion to the
square of its weight, what is the decrease in the value considering that the actual value of the diamond was 2
lakhs?
2x+3x+5x = 10x
Original value = (10x)2 => 100x2
After broken = (2x)2+(3x)2+(5x)2 = > 38x2
100x2 - 38x2 = 62x2
100x2 = 2, 00,000
62x2 = ? ans: 1,24,000
The ages of Sonal and Nitya are in the ratio of 9: 5 respectively. After 8 years the ratio of their ages will
be 13: 9. What is the difference in years between their ages?
Let the ratio of present ages be x

Then, age of Sonal=9x
Age of Nitya=5x
So after 8 years,(9x+8)/(5x+8)=13/9
81x+72=65x+104
x=2 Difference between their ages is 4x=8
Anand finishes a work in 7 days, Bittu finishes the same job in 8 days and Chandu in 6 days. They take turns
to finish the work. Anand on the first day, Bittu on the second and Chandu on the third day and then Anand
again and so on. On which day will the work get over?
On 7 th day.
They completed 146/168 work in 6 days working one by one on each day.
On 7 th day, 22/168 work is left which will be completed by Anand on 7th day.
