SPIRAL BANDAGES
INTRODUCTION
PURPOSE-
oHold the head of bandage in right hand when bandaging left limb and vice
versa
oAlways stand in front of patient while applying bandage except when apply
cap line bandage .
oPad the axilla or groin so that two surface of skin do not touch each
other beneath the bandage.
oEnd the bandage outer side of body . Do not end on exact wound .
oWhenever possible , have the end of body part exposed so you can
check for proper circulation .
TYPES OF BANDAGES :
I. Triangular bandage
T bandage
Finger – 1 inch
Trunk – 4 – 6inches
Head – 2inch
2. SEISSORS
3. ADHESIVE TAPE
4. PADDING MATERIAL
5. KIDNEY TRAY
7. PILLOW
CIRCULAR BANDAGE:
It is use to hold dressing on body parts such as arms , legs , chest or abdomen .
The layer of bandages are applied over the top of each layer .
SPIRAL BANDAGE :
The bandage ascends in a spiral manner so that each turn overlaps the preceding one by one half or two
thirds the width of the bandage .
The spiral turn is use full for the wrist , the figure and the turn .

•Consent
Keep joints slightly flexed to avoid putting strain on ligaments and muscles
INTRAPROCEDURE :
•Cover dressing with bandage at least 2 inches beyond the edges
•Never roll and unroll the bandage and drag it around limb
Place end of bandage over dressing covering the wound and wrap around the
head/arm .
If wrapping a roller bandage in around the head keep the bandage near the
eyebrows in head bandage and low of back of head to prevent it from slipping
