WHAT IS A CALENDAR?
A calendar is a system of organizing days. This is done
by giving names to periods, typically days, weeks,
months, and years. an arrangement of time into days,
weeks, months, and years. A calendar is a chart showing
a year’s days, weeks, and months. : a list of items in
proper order.
WHY SEVEN DAYS IN A WEEK AND NOT MORE?
THE EARLIEST RECORD OF A SEVEN-DAY WEEK DATES BACK TO 600 BCE ANCIENT
BABYLON, WHERE A HOLY DAY WAS CELEBRATED EVERY SEVEN DAYS STARTING
WITH A NEW MOON. THIS PERIOD OF DAYS CORRESPONDS TO THE MAIN PHASES OF
THE MOON WITH EACH QUARTER FALLING ROUGHLY SEVEN DAYS APART, OR EVERY
7.3825 DAYS.
HOW DOES A LEAP YEAR OCCUR?
It takes approximately 365.25 days for Earth to orbit the
Sun — a solar year. We usually round the days in a calendar
year to 365. To make up for the missing partial day, we add
one day to our calendar approximately every four years.
