Consonant Sound - B
• The /b/ is one of six consonants in the stop sounds category. It is called the ‘Voiced bilabial stop’.
• The /b/ is a voiced sound. It has a voiceless counterpart, the consonant sound /p/.
• The P and B sounds are often studied as a pair because they take the same mouth position. To
create these sounds, we use our lips to stop the air, and then we push the lips apart again with a
puff of air.
• The only difference between these two sounds is that the B sound is voiced and P sound is
voiceless.
