Introduction
Artificial Intelligence or AI consists
of related technologies that enable
technological devices to perform
various advance functions and
reproduce human thoughts and
behavioural patterns. Its
components include:-
• Machine Learning
• Artificial neural networks
• Genetic Algorithms
• Natural-language processing
• Robotics
ROBOTICS
Robotics is the most successful
application of AI, which is a mixed
branch of engineering and computer
sciences. It involves conception,
designing, production and operation
of robots. It performs simple and
frustrating tasks and hence can be
used as free or paid workers. It has
applications in majority of fields
including military, aerospace and
medical industries.
EXPERT SYSTEM
An expert system is a computer program that uses
artificial intelligence (AI) to mimic the human expertise
in a particular field to solve complex problems. It can be
used in various industries such as airline industry,
banking & finance, education industry and forensics lab
works. A typical expert system includes the
components described in the following list:
• Knowledge acquisition facility
• Knowledge base management system
• User interface
• Inference engine
• Knowledge base
• Factual knowledge (Facts)

Key Components of Case Based
1 Retrieval Reasoning
The system retrieves relevant past cases from its memory.

2 Reuse
The system adapts the solution from the retrieved
case to fit the current problem.

3 Revision
The system tests the adapted solution and refines it if necessary.

4 Retention
The system stores the new case and its solution in its memory for future use.
NTELLIGENT AGENTS
Intelligent agents, also known as bots (short for robots),
are software capable of reasoning and following rule-
based processes. An important application of intelligent

It allows a smooth, gradual transition between human and computer
vocabularies and deals with variations in linguistic terms by using a
degree of membership. It is designed to help computers simulate the
vagueness and uncertainty in various common situations.
MACHINE LEARNING
Machine Learning (ML) is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI)
focused on developing algorithms and models that enable computers
to learn from and make predictions or decisions based on data.
GENETIC ALGORITHMS
(GAs)
Genetic algorithms (GAs) are a type of artificial intelligence used mostly to find solutions
to optimization and search problems.
In a GA system, the following techniques are used:

• Survival of the fittest – It gives preference or higher weight for better outcomes.
• Crossover – It combines good portions of different outcomes to achieve a better
outcome.
• Mutation - It tries combinations of different inputs randomly and evaluates the results.
• Chromosome – It presents a set of parameters that defines a proposed solution to the
problem the GA is trying to address.
atural Language Processing
Natural-language processing (or NLP) was developed such that users
could communicate with computers in human language.

NLP systems usually perform two types of activities. The first is

interfacing(accepting human language as input and generating the
necessary output) while the other is knowledge acquisition(using the
computer to read, understand & summarize information).
Integrating AI
Technologies into Decision
Support
AI integration Systems

System is beneficial for organisation in following ways:
• Adds valuable inference to traditional DBMS
• Improves speed
• Easy management of databases
• Increases the capability to handle fuzzy data
• Simplifies query operations
Contextual Computing
Contextual computing refers to a computing environment that is
always present, can feel our surroundings, and—based on who we
are, where we are, and whom we are with—offer
recommendations.

The principle behind contextual computing is that computers can

both sense and react to their environments, similar to how human
brains understand and interpret stimuli.
Robotic process automation
(RPA)
Robotic process automation is a form of business process
automation that is based on software robots or artificial
intelligence agents.
